PVE is about memory and rotation against a totally scripted piece of content that doesnt change.

Have you ever tried to clear a hard mode vet trial? Then you'll see how much this "totally scripted" piece of content "doesn't change".

Boss mechanics don't change. They do between modes but as soon as you start whichever mode you desire, be it vet or HM you know exactly what attack the boss does and when.

The mechanics in their basic form don't change, that's right. But the sum of all mechanics, and the resulting possible combinations of situations and events require much more flexibility and adaptability than some PVPers are apparently willing to give PVE credit for.

If that wasn't the case, like if PVP really required so much more skill like some people here claim, any moderately good PVP group should be able to faceroll through say Asylum Hardmode, right?

Somebody mentioned earlier and i agree with them. A top pvp player can adapt to be a top pve player. Its not the same the other way around. Obviously some can but imo, if you are very good at pvp, you are good enough to do all pve content. If enough practice is put in. Obviously mechanics need to be learnt.

This matches my experience if for no other reason than scripted content can be memorised but humans? Not so much.

But then...I suck at PvP so my opinion probably isn't worth much.

I simply do not like people looking down on or being mean to others. Being asses to others just to because they find that fun to do or it makes them feel more powerful for some reason. I don't care if that are PvP-ers, PvE-ers or any other kind of player or in real life.

    PvP
If someone is nice to me, even if game wise he kicks my ass in pvp (extremely likely as I suck at it), I will still like him/her. I am in a PvP area afterall even if i am not there for PvP reasons but other stuff I have to go there for.
But if he/she found out I suck at it and then keeps stalking me and killing me and calling me names it becomes a whole other matter. Granted killing me is in his/her right, being an ass about it isn't. I will log out and try again at another time when someone does not feel good due to ruining my fun. Because the reason can't be to prove his skill/have a challenge. There is no challenge what so ever in killing me PvP at the moment and that is pretty obvious fast. If it's just to farm easy AP and he/she does not taunt/call names it's a bit better. I will still log and go do something else though as I will dislike the situation, no fun and I do not plan to spend my time being someone elses easy AP farm.

    PvE
IF someone in PvE does not want me in their group because I under perform and they are clear but nice about it I will act accordingly. Listen to advise, try even harder or leave, whatever the situation requires. And with underperform I mean not just in their mind but really not bringing to the table what the game is made to expect of you, and I am basically carried. Or heck even if I am not overperforming enough to their liking (speed farm overpowered easy mode). If they told me on forehand that is what they expected when they manually made the group. Tell me nicely and ask me, I will leave if having me means a no fun run for them or frustration, as the run would not be fun anyway then. They have their right to their way of fun, and so do I. Just be civil about it.
Now if I join perfectly viable (or think I do) and I get still called names, shouted at instead of being spoken to normally I think they are asses. I am not above listening to advise, in fact please do give it. But believe me that comes across very differently when accompanied with swearwords and all that. If done that way I will put my fingers in my ears as I can't take anything you say seriously anyway if you need swearing, shouting and name calling to draw attention to it.
