How would you cope with the food in the Clockwork City?

When the only thing to eat is boring nutrient paste, it's understandable that the inhabitants get tired of it and look for alternatives. We see them try a number of things ranging from eating things that probably shouldn't be eaten to
sacrificing people to grow traditional food.
So what would you do?

I'm a little surprised the inhabitants haven't turned to cannibalism, though as a large number of them have metal bodyparts, that might be why. Then again, the Loremaster never said what they did with dead Apostles. :p

A less impractical route might be to find an animal species that will eat the nutriment paste, then raise those for food. Fish maybe? Snails? The Dunmer love their scrib jelly so maybe some kind of insect would work.

If I was an inhabitant of Clockwork city and knew there was different tastes to food I would most likely join ones in Slagtown that would know the ways of smuggling items into the city.
