Yeah. I could be PvPing. Or even doing dungeons on alts. Oh, jolly good times, Ill spend 30 minutes to collect mail every day. Superb solution by Zos, not lazy at all.

This is a choise you make, and the same reason I don't have many alts.
People with many alts have a lot of advantages when it comes to writs, farming stuff and spamming rewarding dailies.
It's a choise to spread your time invested over several characters and I think it is good that it inherently carries both advantages and disadvantages.

On the other hand, you can deplete resources in no time if you start doing all crafting writs on all characters every day.
I tend to do enchanting and provisioning on all chars I log on, since these are only two crafting skills that will not eradicate your stacks of materials.

More writs means more maps/rescources. I can easily keep up four alts this way. But you might have a point.
Aldo didn't realize that this was a year old thread which got necro'd hard by Newrinmpls.
The only one that's a net monetary loss is clothier due to the 2/3 silk, .

I have two accounts; one with 10 characters, the other with 11.
I log onto the character I actually want to play. So while you are spending your "30 min doing nothing but 'admin'" I'm having fun, playing, doing quests, yakking in chat, searching out my treasure maps and so on.
No, none of my horses are totally maxed (been playing PC since about 2 months after PC release).
I'm not at max CP.
I'm not at max level (I think my lowest level character is 8).
But.
I think I just might be having more fun than you are.

Clearing mail and doing mounts and writs takes up about 2 hours when you do them on 20 characters a day.
That said, in this day and age i think that there is a better way to get some of these items out of the way with less interference to actual game play.
I think that ZOS should create an interactive mobile app that allows players to do limited functions on their accounts without being logged in on your gaming machine. limited functions such as checking mail, mount training, selling in a guild store, accessing guild chat, viewing character stats, trait research, buy from the crown store, etc. you know the basic easy tasks that you theoretically can do remotely pretty easily.
