So battlegrounds don't have matchmaking?

Sorry if I am late to this discussion, but is it true that the battlegrounds have no matchmaking algorithm at all? It's just first come, first serve, no matter the skill of the players? That seems like it would be utterly unplayable. Am I right to assume that new players and low skill players just get randomly destroyed and there is basically no point to even try to play battlegrounds?
I'm used to games like overwatch or starcraft that give you similarly skilled opponents, it works so well for everyone.

✭✭Dice roll. Once in a thousand moons, you get a balanced BG, sometimes you are queued with 3 new players against a premade and you're in for 5-10 minutes of pain.

Too many casuals / solo's I know have quit BG's - leaving the strong to just get stronger...its dull getting steam rolled tho when its you and 3 low levels.Xbox One | EU | EP

Rankign system would be too hard. A split queue for solo and duo+, yes.Ignorance is the greatest weapon of tyranny.

Just a simple algorithm based on win/loss would be enough, there needs to be no ranks just matchmaking so you meet similarly skilled enemies. Isn't it boring for good players to just stomp others as well? One group got no challenge the other no chance.1 -

In utopia yes all would be great, but being realistic. But splitting the queues would be straightforward, and I think right now the calculations to combine solo's with groups of 2 / 3 / 4 is already messing the system aroundXbox One | EU | EP

I think if they opened BGs to the general public it wouldn't be nearly as lopsided and would have better match making1 -

Agreed.
And another thing to consider is how would the premade rankings be if we swapped out one player for another? If I have a premade group of four on, and we sub in another player for the fourth, would that queue us up in the original queue?
Not enough premades currently for this to work.

✭✭✭✭There is no MMR system. Sometimes things are unbalanced and even as a very strong player I find myself in some lopsided stomps. But for the most part, I get decent matches.
Most classes have carry potential on builds tailored to BGs so if you get a bad team and aren't up against a premade 4 stack you can still make a match of it.
Edit: I'm a diamond overwatch player on PC and high gold on Xbox, battlegrounds lends no more stomps than overwatch competitive.Edited by Lexxypwns on 25 August 2017 22:350
