Regarding Aetherian Dust and Aetherian Cipher drop rate

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom Sorry to bother you so often, girls, but I don't know who else to rely of the team; first of all and althought is off-topic, thanks for creating the Lore, Crafting and Housing forum sections, been wanting them for a bit of time, specially Crafting and Housing.
Now to the point of the topic, i'd like to ask for a raise in the drop rate of Aetherian Cipher and Aetherian Dust, a very mild one for the Cipher because it should be very rare but not so rare as it is now; and Aetherian Dust a noticeable rate raise, my reasons specially on the dust are since the Diminished Aetherian Dust appeared and can be bought with 50 vouchers each, the regular one well...its kinda useless, very low drop rate and because of that making and selling the Mythical Aetherian Ambrosia (or whatever its is name) its basically not worth it even if it gives 50% more of exp than the Master Writ vendor one, and similar issue with the Cipher; since the Dust drops so rarely, it's basically better to sell it instead of using it to create the recipe.

I know you meant nothing by it, its just something I always notice. Can you imagine if we called you guys boys even at age 30? Its unintentionally insulting.

I think she was just using it as a metaphor. And yes, men are called boys as well and sometimes ladies by other guys. I have never known anyone to be insulted by the terminology in a gaming aspect. Most of us "kids" are light hearted.1 -

Thanks, but originally the thread was meant to talk about the low low rates of those items, now it kinda derailed and got truncated.

✭✭My personal opinion is that ZoS has gone overboard on rarity across the board. There are too many activities in the game for so much rarity.
I have a small crafting empire that brings in considerable wealth and it's still a struggle to purchase motifs, nirnroot and ancestor silk. As of late, mat wise, everything but rubedite ingots have become expensive on a unit price basis.
My gripes are first world gripes. I spend roughly 0.5 to 1 million gold a week. I can't imagine the frustration the average player feels. Let alone a new player...2 -

Cipher drops from mobs on same areas...but yeah its so so rare, they were only 10 on sale last time i checked on TTC, its almost like only one dropped per day in server0 -

I would pay a significant amount of cash for an addon that logged everything that comes in and goes out, with timestamp and location if possible. I don't even know where I picked up the dust. A few posters said they looked into their inventory and found a cipher, I looked and found the dust.
Logging activity would also help me contribute to the master writ drop rate and voucher count discussion. The volume I deal with now on a weekly basis is huge, but I have no sense anymore of how many writs and vouchers on a per toon basis. But I digress.
I started at day 1, one of the few in the early wave that spread crafting across many characters to minimize research time for 9/9. The majority of my crafters (almost all) have learned the imperial motif. I bought a few, but more problematically, my guild funneled all their drops and materials to me from day 1. I know a few imperial motifs came in that way, just can't recall how many. I distinctly recall 3-4 imperial motif drops in (relatively) recent times.
I spent a few super harvesting sessions trying to get the cipher, but I burned out before success. I am now resorting to buying them for the crafters.0 -

Myself, i never got cipher but about five dusts. ZOS Added the Cipher only that no one would call out crown store 150% scrolls as p2w stuff. First weeks the cipher had drop rate that rounded down to zero. After that they increased the drop rate to lowest possible above zero. I doubt they never change it better because of those crown store scrolls.

I completely agree.
The problem with their strategy is that MMOs are designed for completionists. MMO's are built to cater to builder personalities. That personality is extremely frustrated if they can't realistically complete certain achievements or max out on certain activities. It was bad enough that a huge portion of the population can never complete the emperor achievement, over the last few months they have added so much rarity that people are literally leaving the game over it. Motifs are a great example, to complete all motifs the cost will be, what, 5-10 million gold? And they never stop adding them. Probably also for crown store purposes.0
