Quest questions around the AD Storyline

So AD is the last faction i have not played. Im getting ready to run through it pre-Morrowin, to let all the Quest zergers thin out and give me some space. So iam starting a new character, most probably a Warden to run throughthe AD storyline.

Here is where my nerd gets strong, and i have a question. I have not decided id i am going to run through AD as a Bossomer warden, or i have been kicking around the idea of playing a Goblin. (Using my Shadowsilk Gem disguise).

With as few spoilers as possible, do you feel like the dialogs in the AD world would mesh with running an outcast goblin, or are they too heroic?

Man... i need to get out more...

Nah, have no shame in your roleplay characters. I feel bad for the people who don't get immersed like this! ;)

Goblin bands are actually pretty rare in the AD zones, so you're not going to run into many NPCs who have a strong reaction to them, since most of the population hasn't encountered them in the wild. There is the fact that, historically as well as currently, High Elves are known to occasionally keep goblin slaves. So the idea that a goblin might be "domesticated" isn't too far a reach for the Altmer, though it's assumed you'd be treated much like one of the "slave races" is treated in Morrowind.

Story-wise... hm. The character who pulls you into the faction questline is an out-of-the-box thinker, so I can see this being pulled off. The role you play in the storyline may be a bit too heroic, though, given the above way the Altmer will generally look at a goblin. Then again, given the nature of your role in the storyline, that could very well work in your character's favor.

My advice? Give it a shot. Play through the Auridon zone and see if it gels. Auridon is going to be likely where your character would meet the most resistance (again, because of the Altmer), and it's the first zone after the starter island, so it wouldn't take too long to tell whether it works or not. After that, you'd be in the clear, and it would certainly be an interesting twist to have *cough spoiler cough* be a goblin!

Edit: And have fun! The AD questline has my favorite character in the game, so if you like a good story with interesting characters, you'll probably like this one a lot! :)

    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

(Signature idea shamelessly stolen from Abeille.)

Thanks man. I would assume there is some racisim against goblins from Altimer. However i also see it that many high ekves would consider fighting and adventuring beneath them. A proxy (especially a disposable one) may be a solution to their problems. I would be more of a hired tool, than a true hero.

Something you may want to consider is whether a goblin would be considered sufficiently sapient to be able to act with rational judgement in the context of receiving and completing quests. Different tribes around Tamriel appear to have different levels of intelligence, with some being able to make minimal contracts with other races, while others are little more than beasts.

So far it's turning out well. All of the interactions with the High Elves start off with "Go away", followed by "oh, someone sent you? Good I need someone to do my dirty work for me"
