A Cutpurse Above guide (Master Thief title)

A big thanks to @Mr.Tibbs, @Jollaby (@ThaJollabyb14_ESO on the forum) and @ZeroIndex, all three people were very helpful in locating the well-hidden treasures.

This is a video guide for the collectible achievement 'A Cutpurse Above' in the Thieves' Guild expansion.
Completing this achievement will grant you:
  • 'Master Thief' title
  • 'Coin of Illusory Riches' memento

If you are just looking for help but not actual locations, then I can offer two hints:
  • All 16 treasures are located in major cities, only one treasure per zone.
  • All 16 treasures have guards nearby, so stick to the shadows.
There is of course also the book in the Thieves' Den called "Kari's Hit List", which provides clues to all of the locations. It is found on the table in the back next to the Guildmaster.

Note that if you get caught / killed by a guard with a treasure on you, said treasure will return to the place where you found it. You will lose every single treasure you carry and they cannot be laundered or fenced, so caution is advised if you try to do all 16 treasures at the same time.

In this spoiler you will find the video guide:

How do you 'start' this quest? I robbed the first item from the first location totally by chance. Obviously it is marked as stolen but it can't be laundered or sold at a fence.

There is no quest. It's just a matter of picking up the stuff from Kari's Hit List and placing it in the den.

In the thieves den, behind the big table where the guildmaster and kari's list is.
There are some shelves and showcases where you can place them. There are no markers, just walk up to them
and when you are at the right place for your item you can put it down.

This was what threw me for a bit of a loop. I was looking around for where you put them, not realizing that you find places to put them only for the ones you already have in your inventory. I was confused by this because it's not the same way it was done in Orsinium, but now that I know it's fine.

Also, I'm doing my best to try to find them all on my own before I resort to checking out this guide. I find that to be more fun :)

lol your timing is great - I just came back to this thread to check the guide specifically for that one as I couldn't find it in any of the 3 Fighters Guild locations in Reapers March. Of course the hint for Reapers March also says that it's in Eastmarch, so that should have been a giveaway that it was wrong...

I haven't gone looking for the Pact ones yet, but so far I've found all of the Covenant ones, all of the Dominion ones, and the one in Abah's Landing.

I will give you a proper hint for it, which you can choose to use or not:
It is said that an apprentice of the Mages' Guild in Reaper's March found a spittoon that once belonged to a mighty warrior. Rumours say he is currently displaying it for all to see.

See that would have made sense... And would have made it findable by following the hints.

I also noticed that the Auridon hint is wrong because it says the item is on display in "the inn" when in fact it's on display in a manor.

I have a question, not having read the spoilers.

Since I like most people I know have mostly max level characters I'm no longer all that familiar with the low level zones. Are the objects one collects things that were always there, but now stealable?

Also, if you're new to the game and just randomly find these objects will you have any idea what to do with them? I seem to recall seeing a screenshot of an unsellable/unfencable gold item of some sort, but I didn't read the description.

You can't find those items unless you have read Kari Hit List. So unless you interact randomly with everything without reading anything, yes you are supposed to know what you're doing :)
And those items were not there before, though some of them do look like items already present in the world.
What? Lead? Me? No, no, no. No leading. Bad things happen when I lead. We get lost, people die, and the next thing you know I’m stranded somewhere without any pants.

These are new items that weren't there before. I believe that people who do not have Thieves' Guild cannot see them / interact with them.
These items are Gold quality so yes that is possible. They are unfenceable and cannot be laundered since they want you to lose the item if you are caught by a guard (should you lose an item to a guard it will simply reappear where you found it).

No, one character can get them all. However, you will need to have Cadwells Silver and Gold available to you to do it - ie, above level 50.

Once you get a character to level 50, and complete coldharbour, then kill Molag Bal, you will be recalled to the Harborage by Cadwell who will explain to you about Meridias little gift. This sets of a whole new section of quest chains where by you go back in time and do the other faction quests as if you chose them in the first place. They are called Cadwells Silver and Gold.

However, when One Tamriel is released, these are going away as you will simply be able to go where-ever you want from the beginning of the game outwards.

    @TheGoodShepherd

You need to reach level 50 on a character. Once you have that a wayshrine in each starting zone of the two other alliances will pop up on the map.
