Got a house yet?

Hello everyone.

So as we all know housing has been out for a few months now, since February. There was a lot of fuss about housing for a long time, but that's completely understandable. Ever since Oblivion housing has been a part of the Elder Scrolls universe, and it continued in Skyrim and then the DLC Hearthfire for Skyrim. So housing for ESO was only a matter of time really.

Now Im curios how many have actually got a house by now, have you got more then one? Is anyone happy with the apartments?

There are 3 small apartments that are very easy to get, one quest and your done. Then most houses are a bit harder to get, either through gold or crowns. Personally I think the larger houses are expensive. Either 11 000-5 000 000 gold or anything from 2000-11000 crowns. But perhaps these prices aren't as crazy as they seem, housing does have a lot of great features.

For one you can decorate pretty much however you want to, which is very cool. And the larger houses are indeed much larger, not just an extra room. You can even turn your house into your crafting studio, have it all close and in one place which is very handy. So with all that in mind I wont complain about the price of the houses.

So considering all this Im just curios how many already have one of the larger more expensive houses, or if someone even has more then one of them.

/Kind Regards

Well, Technically I have one nice home (Mistveil Keep) and 7 empty apartments (to complete the quest).

Mistveil is where All my crafting stations and looted furnishings are.

I think Mistveil was 1.2 mil gold. I won't be spending more gold and ZERO crowns for another home.

I bought and decorated (with gold) a large house as soon as Homestead launched. Spent close to 3 million gold on it in total.

I'm disappointed in the furniture limit though. I'll be getting the medium house in Vvardenfell next since I think I'll have better luck filling out the space of a medium house than a large one.

It's a fun part of the game, even if it doesn't have any functionality.

And a couple of the freebie rooms which I haven't done anything with.

I made one mistake. Bought Old Mistveil Manor unfurnished. It is likely to stay that way, as crafting/buying furnishings from scratch from guild traders is prohibitively expensive and ruinous on resources.

The others I bought furnished, but played around with it, and bought a *** of stuff from the Crown Store to supplement it. They are all in the process, so to speak. And loving every minute of it, especially the gardens bit.

At the moment I won't buy any more, as I really don't much like all the Elven/***/Mushroomy offerings.

Would like more function for houses, and critically much higher furnishing caps!

OK. For *** read 'p.u.s.s.y.c.a.t'... couldn't remember how to spell Khajiit, and typical American censorship struck.

I own 13 houses, 1 manor house, plus the 3 free inn rooms - 17 properties. All bought with in game gold as I refuse to pay hard cash for them.

I have all of the standard houses except the Imperial home as I do not have the Imperial Edition. I also have Gardner House and Daggerfall Overlook (manor), equipped with Armour Master crafting benches and a target skeleton.

I nearly have enough gold (about 12.5 million) to buy every other house except the last 2 manor houses - my goal is to own them all.

Each of my characters has a place they call home, which gives me a current total of 6 Apartments/Inn Rooms, 4 Small Houses, and 1 Medium House, all bought with in-game Gold. No Large or Notable houses yet, though I'm saving in-game gold to buy Hundings (halfway there!) and will likely be getting the Telvanni Tower with Crowns.

"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

There wasn't an accurate answer in the poll for me, so I voted for the situation I'm hoping to be in soon.

I'm planning to buy 2 houses: Mournoth Keep and Humblemud. Because Mournoth Keep will be for my 2 main characters I want to get that one first but because I play absurdly slowly and don't want to skip ahead I've not yet done the achievement required to get it.

So at the moment I just have the 3 apartments and enough gold to buy 2 houses. As soon as I've finished Rivenspire and northern Bankorai I'll have 2 houses. I've also got a ton of materials saved up and I've been collecting recipes so I can furnish them.

(For the record I don't mind at all that they require achievements and I know it's entirely my choice to wait until I've reached that point while following the story - I even have 2 characters where I'm not playing in order at all so I could send one of them there, but I want my main to unlock it. It just means I'll have more furniture by the time I do get it.)

My answer isn't covered in your poll:

I have the three inn rooms (soon will have a fourth) and I have the crowns to buy a full house (Twin Arches will be mine; I adore Hundings but I think I can more effectively furnish Twin Arches. If I ever win a house of my choice on ESO Live, lol, well then I'll ask for a furnished Hundings most likely). I just haven't gotten around to it due to not spending enough time in ESO to give housing the time it needs. My Rosy Lion room is very nicely furnished with a furnishings pack plus one or two extra things, enough so that I'm reluctant to take anything out of it to put in a bigger house.

I don't put off playing ESO out of lack of interest, I do so because logging in and getting things done is a pretty long commitment in this game and somehow there's always shorter-term stuff to do elsewhere. I have to find a long afternoon in front of me with no one wanting my time for RP in other games and no spring cleaning to work on.

So: Not happy with just an inn room even though I like how I set it up, but don't have the nicer bigger house yet.

I've bought a few houses but I'm mainly focusing my efforts on kitting out my "Mathiisen Manor". Ground floor is 90% complete and I've started on the upstairs areas.

Almost everything is crafted. I have all the crafting stations, though no attuned ones yet.

Once I'm finished (or at least, finished enough that I'm happy with it) I'm looking forward to buying the "Ald Velothi Harbor House".

my single biggest frustration with housing has actually been almost entirely personal - they just didn't build a home in the places I wanted one...

I desperately wanted an alik'r home out in the middle of the desert away from people - many of the homes available are remote, but both the alik'r apartment and med size home (I wanted a bigger one) are right next to each other just outside a city

I also kinda wanted a home in rivenspire/shornhelm city, as that's where I do all my crafting and whatnot, but the only single home in rivenspire is med sized and out in some dinky town far far away from shornhelm - so, bunk on that

so, I settled for Hundings palace, which was a nice size and still had the deserty motif I wanted from an alik'r home but was reasonably remote on betnikh island - still, most of my criteria for homes I really want haven't been satisfied yet (region, location, size), so until they offer a wider range of housing options (give me a manor home in alik'r desert on some remote mesa-top somewhere, and I'll drop the first real cash on this game that I've ever spent just to get it) I'm just sticking with my hunding's which is a reasonable compromise between what's being offered and what I really, *really* want

but in general, I never expected much from housing, and although people whinge up and down the street about "functionality", I never had any illusions about how *functional* the homes would be, and in fact, I'm mildly impressed that they make your bankers/shopkeeper and crafting stations available in your home, which I figure is a nice addition. Less worried about the test dummies, but they ARE functional, so that's a nice perk too

of course, my perspective *could* be somewhat skewed - I still sub, so between my recently doubled bank space and my crafting bags, I'm pretty much golden as far as storage goes

@phermitgb that was a big problem for me too. Well, I was looking for different things but had the same issue - none of the houses were quite right.

I wanted a small house with some outside space in Glenumbra or Stormhaven. When the list of houses was first announced I thought Captain Margaux's Place (small house in Daggerfall) would be perfect. Then I saw it and not only was it only barely bigger than the apartment but it's just so square. It was really hard to imagine anything interesting to do with it.

There are houses which would be perfect - Autumn's Gate, Cyrodilic Jungle House, even Black Vine Villa. But they're all in the wrong locations.

After a lot of experimentation on the PTS and debating with myself I settled on Mournoth Keep. It costs more than I'd wanted to spend (about 6 times more gold than I'd ever had at one time) and is slightly bigger than I really wanted, but the location is almost exactly right, the layout is almost perfect and it looks beautiful (to me anyway).

Also the way Morrowind's justice system worked it was entirely possible to simply move into an "unused" house - only the owner would object so if they weren't around there was no problem.

One of the early fighters guild quests involves killing an orc who lives in Balmora so I always did that early on and then moved into their house. Bit morbid maybe, but it worked. Certainly better than carrying my book collection everywhere with me.
