Why there are still rubber-banders/bots where EVERYBODY (even ZOS) knows they are?

If they made to where you had to press the trigger each time to fire instead of just holding it down may stop the rubberbanders.

I edited the term on wiki to reflect this definition, in one swoop proving our point and also the point that wikipedia is not exactly a perfect reference because it can be, and is, edited by anyone.

    "Rubber-banders"?
Rubber-banding is a term used mostly in action role playing games where lag causes you to jump back to where you were a couple of seconds or milliseconds ago, depending on the severity of the issue.

Who cares about the term?! You know EXACTLY what I mean.

Actually, the first several times I heard the term, I had no idea what you were talking about.

In the PC world, rubberbanding has one meaning and one meaning only, and many of us are not console gamers.

On topic, it's good to see the bot trains still exist.

Found a group of templars making rounds on the werewolves at that one hollow, with the werewolf village. Hell if I remember the name.

I have not see a single bot in years on this game. Have I just not been in the right places?

Yeah, either that or you simply don't recognize it when you see it.

If you are on PC-NA, I recommend standing near the Hissmir Wayshrine in Shadowfen for 5-10 minutes. They will run past you.

I suspect that those players are using software that allows them to script actions, since they have been using the same "script" for months, but with different accounts.

ZOS is fairly ineffective in how they deal with these, so while the accounts might change, these bots are pretty much perpetually there.

This might be why I have seen a "dolmen rubberbander" there watching them. I figure he is trying to get their attention to find out what software they are running.

    I see them frequently too.

Worse was that yesterday, I think it was in Alik'r, I was going to pick up a alchemy node and got the message "Someone else is already using that" and a second later, the node vanished. Nobody was even remotely near me, so I was left wandering... are the underground node farmers back?

    @Zyrudin

I think this is something different. There is a Nirn Root in the Hollow City that is or was permanently in this condition but it never vanished. It could also be be phasing related. I have seen containers empty if I don't take anything out of them and no one else is around. It happens quite often with Legerdemain Containers although rarely with with Harvest Nodes.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Well, part of the point is that they aren't playing the game. They are at work, watching a movie, or playing some other game.

By phasing you mean a different instance of that locale, where actually a player is harvesting it and it seeps to the instance I am in? It could be something like that, I guess. Although it did bring back those awful bot farming memories!

Can we mention the 10+ bots that crouch in one spot at vivec antlers and one by one go and kill the mobs and run back and crouch and then another bot does it, over and over.

Actually they are kind of hurting the rest of us. On consoles specifically when you have a couple dozen bots heavy attacking it makes the dolmen lag out so that mobs don't appear for people actually playing, making it impossible for them to participate and get the dolmen xp.

So Zo$ has not replied to anyone in the topic 'Cheating and Exploits' thread in 9+months yet your still under the assumption/impression they are tackling Cheating in ESO?

Why do you think ESO would be proactive with your report yet bypass 100's in the Cheating thread? @CarbonX

Well, in my experience with Z0$ over the course of ~ 26 months is that they are simply incompetent at the most menial of tasks and not a professional company. The reasons why this is so is a list so big i don't even know where to start anymore and have no desire to squander more of my time in repeating it.

It is not that they do nothing. A couple of factors make it look that way. First, they never tell us when they do it, so we don't get any feedback that positive action was taken, or any action. Second, the accounts that the cheaters are using change, which gives the impression that they are there for a long time, when they really are not. Third, the number and instances of people cheating is probably overwhelming ZOS, who seem to prefer engineering the game to stop them rather than suspending or banning, so they don't have a huge ToS staff.

I'm sorry, but many have reported bots on a specific place and shown that after a year the same bots with the same exact user IDs are still there. So that's doing nothing, because, if banned, they can't come back with the same user ID. Therefore, after a year, that's taking no action at all.

Also, they can stop AFKers by implementing a script to auto disconnect accounts that have been repeating the same commands for, let's say, two minutes. They don't do it, why? So that's taking no action either.

ZOS only has so many resources. Would you rather them spend time catching scammers and abusive players, or go after these people who just tape a mouse button down? Obvious answer is obvious.

Because ZOS has gotten very greedy and doesn't want to invest in active GM's.

All they would have to do is make a circuit of popular dolmens once an hour and ban the people botting there. But they don't.

How can you possibly how many resources they have? I understand they earn enough to have more resources if they need to. And the answer may be obvious for you, but not for me nor the majority; cheating is cheating, and I prefer ALL of them banned, not just the ones that commit higher cheating, that, so far, haven't been banned either.

Because meeting the bare minimum standard of service, which is to say having GMs in game at all times to deal with these situations whenever they come up, is not something ZOS is willing to pay for.
