No console players did NOT do something wrong if they went out & bought a PC version because of the email. They were well within their rights to do so. It is not like accidentally receiving something for free at all, as per your example.
And yes, ZOS has done something wrong. There have been numerous posts/threads asking about this, both here and on the pts forum, without ANY reply for over 24 hours.
This has not been handled well at all by ZOS. (Bit of an understatement but trying to be constructive).
They just can give us access to the PTS... No refound, no free eso+ ... People were ready to pay to be part of it... Does that mean nothing to them ??
Just give us the access.

I'm guessing there's a language barrier here, because at this point, you're insulting the players.

Yeah we did just literally waste money because of a mistake. This is pretty inacceptable... I mean I'm fine with not having access to the beta, but my point is, why didn't Support mention anything? Why was I informed that it was totally fine for me to buy the PC game and enjoy the beta testing?

Some of you may have received access to the closed beta forum section; this has been resolved, and you no longer have access since this is strictly for beta feedback.
Again, apologies for the mix-up here.

It wasn't intended for them, so I don't see why there's a need for them to have rights to it. And no, @ScytheNL, I'm not. I just find it interesting how customers can find so much blame in a company, but fail to even consider that they might have done something wrong.

I simply want to know where console players got the idea to buy a PC and/or PC copy. Because if they did in fact, get the idea from other players on the forum, this assumption wouldn't be wrong. I'm saying this because I've seen forums where players literally complain about something ZOS "promised they'd address in the future". When in fact, they never said anything of the sort, and some players just formed an imagination mob to try and make out the company to be liars.
This tactic usually works until an outside source steps in to actually fact check the claims that were made.
Am I under NDA? My beta invitation was wrong, nor do I signed something, and if it is autonatically if you get the beta invite, well, its gone?
I pretty much did read all the stuff in the closed beta,
- actual vvardenfell size compared to wrothgar,
- how people who played through all rate morrowind Expansion,
- quests,
- new trial mechanics,
- battlegrounds balance and queue system
Etc.
Am I allowed to post about it? I mean if I do, and they tell me after I wasnt allowed, I guess saying sorry is OK and things are finde?

I personally got the idea from Support. I immediately contacted Customer Support about the Beta after receiving the invitation and asked how was it going to work and how could I access it. They told me that the only way was to purchase a PC version of the game. Which is what I did. When I got my disk ready to install, I went on the forums and saw Gina's post. So at this point, I fail to see how it is my mistake to have purchased the PC copy, when the Support told me it was the only option to Beta test. In fact, I had a pretty lengthy conversation with Support about the specs of the PC and if character copies from Console to PC would ever be a possibility. The fact that the invites were "sent out by accident" was never mentioned by them. Come on, tell me that I don't have the right to blame the company at this point. I have all of the e-mails as evidence.

That is unfortunate. My guess is support didn't know this was done in error. At the very least you can use your pc copy to access pts for the base game. It's nice as a console player to have that option. Still defeats the reason you purchased a pc copy in the first place. I hope they end up helping you out.
Burgererer wrote: »@IzakiBrotherSs After seeing your earlier posts about contacting support, I apologize for missing them. If you did in fact contact support and got the green light, my condolences. My argument was that the majority of people seem to have formed a mob because they did exactly what you've done, but never mentioned contacting support about it first.
And here I wrote a long story about that event analogy by @psxfloh, trying to justify it on some sort of middle grounds. If it counts for anything, something like this isn't peanuts to me, and I actually mentioned a case in which I had an extra, useless copy of the game. I apologize for any misunderstanding for those that contacted support before buying the game twice. And if I've enraged anyone on the console communities, don't worry, I'm not on PlayStation network.
But as a final note, I believe adding all these extra users to the PTS requires a lot of extra work, and wish the best of luck to getting in on it soon.

Wow. They didn't even check with their headquarters or anything? That was probably an honest mistake and sloppiness but that IS a scam even if unintended one. You could probabloy sue them if you really wanted lol. I'd say push them to refund you the money based on false advertising/promise/something.

Well.... I think that in theory it would make no sense to issue invitations for a PC Beta test to players of the PC version. At least at first glance.
OTOH, since there does not appear to be a "console PTS", I can see the logic of at least offering that section of the playerbase a chance to test a significant DLC
I would say, even if such invitations were issued by accident, it would make sense (and be good for public relations) to appreciate any folks who went to some trouble to be able to utilize the accidental opportunity.
Such a thing could be handled in this way and look good and encourage more feedback.
Burgererer wrote: »Does ZOS realize some players when out and bought the pc version just because of this error?
What compelled them to do that? Seems like an honest mistake on ZOS's part and the correction's been made. It's not their fault some people inexplicably assumed they could use a PTS key on any platform.
Burgererer wrote: »Hallothiel wrote: »@Burgererer
cry murder over a mess they could have easily avoided by contacting support and quickly resolving the issue.
Oh really? Let's see. I received the email 2 days ago. I immediately contacted support. I have still to receive ANY answer AT ALL.
So no, contacting support does NOT 'quickly resolve' the issue. You know this, yet you choose to keep trolling. That's too bad.
It's NOT the players fault that they expect to be given something when they receive an official email from the company telling them that they will be given something. The fact that ZOS admits these messages where mistakenly sent proves the fault lies not with the playerbase but with the company.
