I've had this happen recently as well, but it seems to be an issue with where the game determines the item's "edges" are. This seems to come into play when I'm placing framed artwork more than anything else because the game seems to want to have several of the pictures hanging about six inches from the wall once placed. To get rid of that, I turn off the option for "surface drag" and place the picture just a BIT closer - then it looks more natural. However, the picture cannot be clicked on in house-editing mode at that point and the only way to grab it is to go into the RETRIEVE tab and pull it into my inventory that way.

    Hope that helps!
