Empower, how does it work for DOTS or CHANNEL damage?

I coudnt find any suitable ULT for my Tanky Magblade and i just found the Soul Magic one and it looks really strong, so i wonder how would Empower affect its damage? None at all, only first tick or entire damage?

Nope. No effect at all. Tested a month or two back.
"Good" news is that it also will not eat the Empower effect so you can still use it on a subsequent ability. (tested with mage guild empower).
Now if the ability states "Does X damage initially, then Y damage over 10s" or something like that then, yes, X damage gets the empower.
But for any other DoT or channel that does not follow that formula it has no effect.2 -
