Worth doing Caldwells?

I'm currently at 200CP and have grown tired of questing so I've put a hold on finishing the Caldwell's line. I'm trying to reach the CP cap as efficiently as possible without mindlessly grinding like a zombie. My question is, is it even worth completing the caldwells story line? Would I be missing much if I just continue to level using other methods?(dungeons, craglorn, dolmens, grinding, etc)

I'm just having a hard time finding the incentive to complete Caldwells silver/gold. Any input is much appreciated.

Would I be missing much if I skip 2/3 of the stories... That is a question you only can answer yourself. If you don't like questing and you would run through it like a content loo, skipping dialog and all, then you wouldn't miss out anything. Save the RPG part for the time you feel like doing RPG.

Go grind. Miss out the story and the skill points.

You aren't going to miss anything game-changing for your character.

Like, someone who powerleveled to max vs someone who quested to max are going to effectively be the same.

I would recommend doing some dungeons though to get more experienced with the game's mechanics as neither grinding nor questing really do that.

Obviously, skipping questing just means you skip the story line of this game, which is the primary selling point for a lot of people here, but in terms of character progression you wouldn't miss anything.

To tell the truth, I stopped questing after I finished Cadwell's silver. Questing wasn't really enticing for me at that point, and I was more interested in collecting gear and doing dungeons with friends. Later on I finished Cadwell's gold just for the sake of saying I completed it.

EDIT: As Kodrac brings up, you are missing out on some skill points, but unless you are a 6 profession maxed crafter, you probably won't care.

I did it on my one character that does all my crafting for the extra skill points and the motif. I won't be doing it again on any of my others.

EDIT: I forgot to add, it goes fairly quickly if you only do the quests listed in Cadwell's Almenac. There's only like 5 per zone but they're the long drawn out ones because they're the main story quests from the factions and reward you with a skill point each. You don't have to do every quest in each zone unless you want the Hero of... title.

Back in 2014 I quit doing Cadwell's so Iunderstand the frustration luckily you don't have to quest anymore. I enjoy questing, but at my own pace, this time I've only completed Orsinium DLC. And I'm CP 180. Do Dungeons, Dolmens, World bosses. You can get a decent income doing dolmens/world bosses too.

Thanks for the replies fellas. Pretty much answers my questions. I already skip all dialogue as it is. Could never take MMO story lines serious for some reason. If its not really impacting my character progression, I'd rather just skip it. I'll probably save it for when I have very little left to do, which I may never get to that point.

If the questing Exp was significantly better, that'd be a different story.

Any tips on content I should be running to get to that ever evasive CP cap?

You do get the achievements and dyes for it also, the dyes are quite nice dyes too.

The Soulshriven motif is the reward for completing silver which has nice looking weapons. Not sure if it makes it worth it, you might be able to buy one off a trader. You do only have to do the main quest line to get it.

The Main Zone Quests, essentially Caldwells Quests are huge sources of CPs upon quest completion. Huge. Much more than most any other quest out there, especially while enlightened. Don't skip those.

Does not mean you can't go and just grind or do dailies to take a break.

1. Random Dungoens each day on each Alt
2. Wrothgar World Boss Dailies/Delve Daily, get a good group and do all 6 and your talking a 400K to 500K Champ Exp points while enlightened
3. TG Recovery Quest
4. Gold Coast Dailies (Arena and Relics)

That will get you a million cxp's each day if your enlightened. On each character that is champ ranked.

The most annoying part is you cant get rid of in your quest log after beating the main story. Even if you dont talk to him he still just pops out of nowhere saying come see at the Harborage and boom quest starts.

Lots of skill points to be awarded by doing the factions' main story lines. If you've never done silver and gold before, or you like questing, or desperately need skill points, it's definitely worth it.

But as someone who's done it a few times, I never intend to do any of those questlines again, ever.

I didn't realize the main quest give that much CP exp. The always seemed slow to me. Hmm It may be worth it to just knock out the main quest of each zone.

It depends on what you've done already, but given that there's absolutely no benefit in trying to beat any personal deadline to hit any cap I'd suggest doing the stuff you enjoy and then relying on new content as it comes out. It's pointless "grinding" just to hit some particular cap or other in a game, far better to pace yourself doing what you enjoy and then develop naturally as new content comes along.

You get the quests in the Hostel outside of Orsinim. You can only get one a day, but since they are shareable, you can group up and share the quests and do all 6, plus then do the Delve Daily you get in Morkul. Just look for a World Boss Group in Wrothgar and they will show you how.

I pop an Exp Booster sometimes before a World Boss Tour and I can get a Champ Point each time, or near to it, as I am 735 now so it takes more than 800K for me. But at 200CP's, your going to get multiple CPs, even without enlightenment.

I've run through it 3 times now. It's a GREAT source of CP as well as skill points. I will admit that it was only "fun" the first time and I don't listen to all the dialog anymore, but as a completionist I just can't seem to skip on all those skill points.

It's also a good way in my opinion to research new classes and builds that you may not know much about. It affords you a good pace to experiment in different situations.

@KingKush - What is it you play for if you aren't interested in the storyline? I'm not being disingenuous, I'm genuinely curious.

The only reason I play is the storyline, which has gotten me to Champ level 397 by doing nothing but solo questing and public dungeons. I've never understood what people who grind in the game are playing for, so I'm genuinely curious.

You and me both brother. I "ground" mudcrabs for the "chitinous creature" achievement for about 30 minutes and was ready to eat a bullet.

Doing cadwells is just questing in each area. Hitting the main points of interest in each zone and "saving the day".
If you don't then you just won't experience the quest line in each zone. But other than doing quests how do you intend on levelling?
You have the daily random dungeons. I do this on several characters to earn easy chunk of xp. You can grind catacombs or something. And grind like a zombie lol

I really enjoyed it but I really enjoy questing and the story behind it. Plus the skill points and achievements make it easier to do things on one character the first time around rather than having to to bits and pieces on different characters

Wow, you really do learn something new about this game everyday. Didn't know those quest existed. Definitely have to add that to my list of "*** to do daily" in ESO.

Honestly, if it wasn't for the PVP I probably wouldn't play ESO as all. Yes I know the PVP in this game is extremely flawed but I thoroughly enjoy ESO's combat system and think it is some of the best in an MMO. I'm really only running PVE content for end game gear and PVP sets, plus trying to get my CP up to make for a more enjoyable experience in PVP.

There's definitely other features that keep my attention as well but PVP would be my main reason of playing.

If you don't do cadwell's silver ,gold you will be missing out on skillpoints that come from completing quests.

Cadwell handholds you through the other alliance's main questlines which all award multiple skill points.

Gotcha. That helps. I don't PvP at all. I hated having to go to Cyrodil to do the PvE content for certain achievements. I suspect, even though we play the same game, it's an entirely different game for each of us.

This is good info. Might do it with my crafter for the skillpoints then. Already enjoyed all storylines with seperate 'appropriate' characters
