Hey Guys,

So after this week of no CP PvP (and sucking mostly, but loving it), CP is back and me at 250 CP will be at a disadvantage. I am Running 5 Pc. Seducer, 5 Pc. Spinner's. 1 Pc. Nightflame (extra health) Impen on small parts and head, infused on Chest/Legs, all Magicka enchants except health on chest and shoulder. I'm getting 21.5k and 36kish Magicka, which I'm feeling ok about, however, my base damage is just abysmally low as well as spell crit. I'm getting decent with keeping shields up, proccing crystal frags, and timing the execute well, however I was just wondering if there was anything I should change to maybe do more damage, or with low CP I should just focus on sustain. I was looking at other sets like Julianos, Vicious Death, Etc.

TL;DR- 5 Killing Blows in a Week of PvP,
Help.

Thanks,
i do not read replies. still playing stamdk for some reason.

@Sky_WK ...you sound pretty well set up...

utilizing your execute at the right moment is definitely key...what food/drink and potions do you use...which mundus...also which glyphs on jewelry...

VD and julianos are also decent PvP sets...it's funny though - the only time you can really tell you VD is working is when your bounty counter starts adding up really fast :)

The Jewelry is Spinner's (I have no vMA weapons so I've been using two 5 pieces and a monster piece). Mundus is Thief, I believe my jewelry glyphs is magicka recovery. I use Health/Magicka CP 150 Blue food, and spellpower potions tho I dont pop them alot.

I think I really would also see a benefit from keeping Power Surge up, and possibly using daedric curse.

Maybe change my jewelry to spell damage enchants and run one a one piece kena? Or how big of a sustain hit will i take switching from seducers to Julianos for some more damage?

Yes, you should probably have Haunting Curse worked into your rotation; as to Power Surge, you need to either have that or Structured Entropy from the Mages Guild line to cast at the beginning of the fight to get your Major Sorcery to bring your base damage up to par. There are arguments for either of those skills, depends on your own playstyle, but you should have one of them up in any fight.

If your crit chance is much lower than 50%, Julianos or another spell crit chance focused set may be beneficial.

If after all of that you find you're still lacking in how much power you think you should be doing, look into your jewelry enchants, maybe switch some of them for Spell power if you're pretty confident in your sustain, even magicka cost reduction would probably be more beneficial overall than the magicka recovery enchants though.

Sounds like you're on the right track already.

howdy @Sky_WK ...honestly, gear/build wise - it seems like you know as much if not more than myself :p

maybe the key is in your playstyle for your mag sorc...are you a solo player/zerg surfer, small group or large group player...

sometimes if you're around a lot of other players it can be a challenge to get "killing" blows...

it's been a few days since i've played my mag sorc (i play 8 different characters pretty regularly)...trying to rememebr what i'm wearing...i think i have on a monster head piece and 5pcs julianos/VD - i may though have switched to will power jewelry and some other set up though...

I do though use the increase magical harm glyphs on my jewelry and i drink the purple regen drinks - even though all my abilities are all magicka - sneaking, dodge rolling and breaking free use up my stamina really fast...

Edit: at times i do use power surge (forget to hit it all the time though :# )...also daedric curse - i keep "empowered ward" and "haunting curse" on separate bars to keep the daedric protection passive active...

Sounds like it would be worth my time to invest in a Julianos/VD set and just see how I handle the sustain without Seducers, Ive never had an issue with sustain since my stam sorc so we will see! Thanks peeps

I notice you are splitting between Health enchants and Magicka enchants. Prismatics are better if you want to do this. If you do the math on it, two Prismatics provides just as much health and magicka as a one health and one magicka, in addition to providing as much stamina as a having third rune. The stamina is useful in pvp even on a mage.

Prismatics are one of the few ways in the game to break the item budget in your favor.

I like to run 1800 crit resist minimum and 2k is my desired state.
Sorcerna, proud beta sorc. RIP April 2014 to May 31 2016 DArk Brotherhood. Out of retirement for negates and encases. Sorcerna will be going back into retirement to be my main crafter Fall 2018. Because an 8 k shield is f ing useless. Died because of baddies on the forum. Too much qq too little pew pew. 16 AD 2 DC. 0 EP cause they bad, CP 2300 plus 18 level 50 toons. NA, PC, Grey Host#SORCLIVESMATTER actually they don’t or they wouldn’t keep getting nerfed constantly.

    Thanks,

As a sorcerer, killing blows should come easier for you than any other class. Just spamming Mage's Wrath into random enemies at your typical zerg battle is going to get you 5 KBs. It sounds like you are learning and experimenting; I'm pretty sure you'll find yourself doing much better no matter what gear you adopt when you get more experience.

I would say in general, all resources as a sorcerer should go into magicka. Sure, health helps everyone, but sorcerers turn magicka into health via their shields, so more magicka = more damage, more attacking, and more surviability. So your one piece should be a monster set that gives max magica (I think Grothdar is one). Also all magicka glyphs.

There is an art to making Curse, Frags, Mage's Wrath explode at the same time, and that's the key to getting kills as a sorcerer in a competitive situation where you have opponents disrupting you. Sure there are difference between Julianos, Spinners, Burning Spell WEave, etc., but no matter what gear you wear, you've got to string those attacks together and survive doings it and each of those gear sets is good enough to win a fight.

I like Seducers, but as a sorcerer I think there are better options for resource management. Lich is very strong, Amberplasm in conjunction with the Dark Deal skill is also quite good.

    Good luck out there!
