PvP mDK Whip Its Build

So I was running through COA1 on my Magic Dk to farm for some BSW pieces I had not yet obtained. All the sudden I noticed something... A person in my group was using a lightning staff and dropping wall of elements on enemies and they were constantly off balance. I was able to hit a power lash 5 times in a row multiple times on the same boss. Over and over. So I thought about it....

If you run sword and board on your front bar in pvp, and a lightning staff on the back bar and drop wall of elements you can do the same thing to players in pvp. Put 75 points into thaurmaturge to get the 10% damage bonus to off balance players through exploiter passive and this is some gnarly damage.

I'm running...

2L/5H
2 Grothdar/Skoria
5 Rattle cage
5 Burning spell weave
1 Maelstrom Lightning staff on back bar
Sword and shield on front bar

So far, this is pretty darn legit. The only issue is that most people run out of the wall of elements, however, you can use it as bait for players. For players that are not ranged they have to choice but to run or stand in it to hit you. Positioning is key. Also, Power lash heals you and cost 0, yes ZERO magicka. Throw some dots up hit wall of elements and just starting hitting those whip its. Lol

Any thoughts?

Lol. This has been known a long time ;)

However, in PvP I'm pretty sure Power Lash has a GCD before you can use another **(Correct me if I'm wrong plz). I've never been able to chain power lashes back to back to back on the same person.

Also, If using a staff/S&SH combo, I prefer having my staff as my front bar since you can get the bonuses for AOE damage etc but it does make running 5/5/2 a little tricky.

I haven't seen a cooldown on power lash, but I could be wrong.

The real problem is everything you have to give up to make this work. WoE is tough to use in pvp against decent players since is so easy to move out of. You'll smash pugs tho and it gives you access to lightning staff heavy attack aoe

What would you have to give up to make it work? A sword and shield on back bar? That's not that big of a sacrifice. With rattle cage you drop structured entropy so right there is a free slot on your back bar.

    Igneous shield
    Coagulation blood
    Elusive mist
    Elemental drain
    Wall of elements
    Destroy Ult.

That's a pretty decent back bar to be honest while using a defending maelstrom lightning staff. Front bar is 5 BSW. Back bar is 3 BSW with a maelstrom lightning.

The cooldown isn't on using Power Lash, it is on using Flame Lash to set an immobilized or stunned enemy off-balance. An enemy being set off-balance by something else can be Power Lashed over and over... alas, I don't have video evidence, so... I do remember a very specific instance where me and a nightblade were attacking another player and I was surprised to hit 2 straight Power Lashes against that player.

Try a charged staff with a shock enchant. Wall of elements should proc the weapon enchant according to the new patch notes. Should give you about a 80% chance to proc them off balance on the first tick.

I mean when I was in a dungeon last night I was literally hitting it over and over and over. It was crazy. The skill on my bar never even flickered between flame lash and power lash. Just stayed lit up as power lash constantly.

Just use the shattering rocks morph of petrify. Accomplishes the same thing, just around a specific target instead a ground based aoe doing the off balancing.

Yes, exactly. If you can sustain that power lash in pvp you could whomp on someone and constantly heal yourself. The sustain would be quite good as well considering it doesn't cost anything.

This. Plus if you have a staff on your back bar, you will have to be short either 1 BSW piece, or 1 Rattle piece when swapped to that bar.

Base chance is 20%. With destro passive elemental force it's 40%. With a gold destro charged staff it's 84% i think.

If im not mistaken, but I thought the power lash proc was actually free of magicka cost, so... decent i guess. i havent actually checked myself tho, nor am i an mdk main. I remember hearing that somewhere though. just looking at the video above, it seems that their magicka bar is not going down on power lash usage

Yeh lighting stick spank spam has been around a long time brother.. My personal preference when using stick builds.. Just molten arms.. Elegant set.. Heavy fire stick..rock throw or fossilize.. Just fun as hell to hit 30k heavy stick attacks on someone lmao we have a ton skills that can be used in combination with whip to proc lash which are way..wayyy more efficient in PvP than wall of elements and a weird shock stick.. It's just gonna maybe..and maybe.. Be effective in dueling.. Then again, if you're 1v1 against a component player.. He is gonna wreck ur face.. Double S&B.. If anything throw a heal stick or fire stick on your back bar.

    Talons..whip..lash..
    Deep breath interrupt- power lash.
    Fossilize/shatrocks/invdrain.. Lash
    Rock throw..whip..lash
Examples of how to proc spankdat@$$ whips without building for concussion shock stick set ups..

Also if u ever try out the fire staff/molten arms/elegant build I was talking about.. Try to use heavy attack// flame reach..or fire rune (the one that knocks em 100ft in the air)//Dragon leap and it's friggin super funny
