Simple. They already have your service. Same as cable/internet/phone/etc companies that offer promotional rewards for new customers. The existing customers don't get the new deal because they already have your service. You can't take back the money you've already spent.

Your account didn't start with 500 crowns in it?

My first account is about 2 years old, the box it came in had a sticker mention 500 crowns with it. It was an older box from when mandatory subs were still around. It came with 500 crowns as it stated.

My second account purchased 9 or so months ago had the 500 crowns with it.

And my third account purchased during the free weekend, in which they gave those free accounts 500 crowns, also came with exactly 500 crowns.

    -edit- added the word mandatory

The 500 crowns in TU replaced the free month in the first edition.

For the TU transition, existing players got bonus crowns on top of the loyalty rewards based on time played.

My apologies for not providing more background information. To start, I bought a copy of the original ESO just last year right after the game went b2p.

Just three days ago I activated the imperial edition upgrade via. the LOOTCRATE promotional item.

Today, I upgraded my account to the Gold Edition of the game.

The reason for my question "Why don't existing players also get the complimentary 500 crowns that new players get?" stems from me not understanding ZOS's choice in not gifting players 500 crowns for each of the purchase to players who essentially purchased a copy of ESO twice

I think you should have gotten some free crowns when you created your account.

I bought the game just after B2P was announced and registered it exactly 1 month before the switch over so I could use my free month, and then I got 500 crowns (I think) for having an account before Tamriel Unlimited was introduced.

Other people got more because it was based on how long you'd had a sub for. Mine was the bare minimum.

And then anyone who created an account after the switch got 500 crowns too.

    I don't understand the problem.

ZOS gives 500 crowns to new accounts; you received yours when you started playing last year. Later you upgraded that same account with DLC. Why would they give you more crowns for that? You give them money for DLC, not the other way around.
