PVP Build help for Nightblade

HrolleifTheUnbroken
I want to start adventuring in Cyrodill but I keep dying as soon as I face any other player. What can I do to fix that, what sort of sets or abilities can I use to improve?
I have a CP145 Nord(I didn't know) nightblade.

Currently I have 5pc night mothers gaze with 4pc hundings rage with 3pc agility jewelry.

Any ideas or tips would be awesome!

Also if you want to group up i'm on PS4/NA

1 - go to the non-cp campain, otherwise you will be facing people with 400cp more than you.
2- Get gear with impenetrable trait, otherwise you get bursted really fast with critical hits. Get AT LEAST 5 impen pieces on the body.
3 - Hundings rage + agility is ok for pvp, but make sure to get the 5pieces bonus of hundings. Add a 2pieces monster set (helm and shoulder) like bloodspwan, velidreth or selene, and then whatever weapons you want to have (But make sure that they are SHARPENED).

5 hundings +3 agility + 2 monster is a good starting point + weapons (it will depend on whatever playstyle you choose). Then make sure to get enough regen, running out of stam in pvp = death. You can use bi-stat drinks (or the orsinium gold food), the serpent mundus and tripots.

The first steps on PvP are hard, you will get rekt a lot until you start to get more experienced.

I suggest sticking to range that way you can get use to the ebb and flow of things, i would recommend either 5 x spriggan or 5 x alchemist, and 5 x marksman and 1 x monster set either kraghs for pen or kena / veil for weapon damage, use 2h and bow with the bow being marksman, use snipe and poison injection, its a standard bow build but this allows you to get use to cyrodiil and rack up a few kills. If you need any help with bar set up etc. let me know :)

Should I go heavy or medium armor?

Okay if I were to get my hands on spriggan for example, what kind of ability bar should I run?

Depends on your playstyle. Even with heavy armor being really strong atm and procs sets bursting down medium armor builds, i still prefer medium for a nighblade, is suits the playstyle, high mobility + high recovery for get in and out of combat with cloak.
Both armor choices are viable, in the end it will depend on your playstyle. In my case, if i want to play heavy, i just go with a stamdk or a stamsorc, those classes work way better with heavy armor.

Ohh okay Yeah i was thinking the same. My player is more of a stealthy sort of character, gets in and out. So I'll just get a set of NMG/Hundings with all impen and sharpened weps.

What would be best for PVP? Recently I was able to pick up Viper and Spriggan sets. Would that be good?

Go 5 Hundings, 3 Agility, and if you have monster helms go with what you have, if you don't then try to get a cheap 3/4 pc set of Leki or something that increases Weapon dmg and stam. Since you wont have proc sets you will be at a severe disadvantage in melee range. Best to learn to PVP with a Bow/2hand. As a NB you are going to burst and evade mostly, and the closer you get the more skill its going to take to evade when the burst fails, which it will. When I first started I ran this setup on Bow/2h which is not in any way ideal at all but its a little easier to play until you get buffing, bar swapping, and animation cancelling worked out:

    2h: Executioner/Ambush/Sneak Attack/Rally/Fear
Bow: Poison Arrow/Flex (Bombard or Relentless Focus or Piercing Mark)/Lethal Arrow/Cloak/Resolving Vigor

Practice sniping/Heavy/Poison Arrow rotation from distance and cloak and evade when they see you until you get confident enough to engage up close. Find a good guild that will help you out and group with them, you are going to have a bad time trying to solo until you get your bearings and get better gear.

If you are lucky by the time you GG all this proc garbage will be a thing of the past.

Ok 5 piece of Hundings it is! Would Leki's be better than Spriggan?
    Also, what are proc sets?
So far I do have a few monster shoulders and a couple masks. Which set would be best for a PVP situation?

Another question, why 2h instead of DW? Is there really an advantage there or is it because of Rally?

Sorry to ask so many questions :p haha

Proc sets are sets that trigger a secondary damaging effect. Examples you would be looking for would be Viper, Velidreth, Black Rose, and Tremorscale.

If you have Molag Kena or Velidreth use them. I'm using one of each currently to get 2 pc of Weapon Damage because I don't have Velidreth shoulders because I don't farm or PVE so I'm usually not geared to the best spec. You will want to maximize your weapon damage, all stam enchants on armor, weapon damage enchants on jewelry, and Weapon dmg enchant on your weapons though this is debatable.

2 hand is automatic in my opinion. Rally is the best skill in the game. I wouldn't run any load out that didn't include 2 hander. I know that DW and Bow is the way to go in PVE but I don't recommend it in PVP unless you got money to burn on good pots and even then I'd go 2-hander on my back bar. Rally is the only heal you are going to have until you get Vigor unlocked but even then you will want to use both Vigor and Rally.

If nobody told you yet I'll tell you now, level everything. Level Medium and Heavy, level all 4 stam weapons, if you have something maxxed switch to something else in PVE and level it up.

Nightblades can use 1h/shield very well with our strong execute and Surprise Attack, even as a DPS bar. You lose around 270 weapon damage and the twin blades & blunt passive compared to DW, but you gain tremendous defensive ability from block, and even some offensive ability to make up for the losses with a more powerful Bash.

It's not. Just a set he is going to want to collect in the current meta. If I really wanted to nit pick you could say that Constitution has a proc element when you take damage and the set is tied to that passive.

S&B is very useful IMO. You will find as you progress that most nightblades in the current meta are running DW or S&B on their DPS bar. There are several reasons to do this but I'd say the most compelling one currently is the ability to run a 5/5/2 set bonus loadout. Most Stamblade are running 5 Hunding/Black Rose/Clever Alchemist/Whatever, 5 Viper (You get to 5 by running 3pc Viper Jewelry and 2 pc Viper one handed weapon or shield) and then a monster set, the big ones right now being Tremorscale, Selene, and Velidreth. I don't agree with the proc sets as they are and I don't like using them but with the state of heavy armor, destro ultimates, and tanky healbots you will be taking a disadvantage if you take the high road.

S&B is necessary is you get a Tremorscale set since it procs off a taunt you would need to use a Puncture skill to trigger it so you would use that instead of sneak attack. Defensive stance is useful one on one if you find yourself fighting at range. Shield charge is not as useful as Ambush IMO. I have used Power Bash in a few situations but I find it too expensive to use as my main DPS skill.

I'm not saying Bow/2H is the way to go. In the current meta, based on my death recaps, I would say its not a effective as it once way. I haven't used a ranged attack on my NB in months. And when you get good at it you will probably go strait up melee damage as well. There is pretty decent learning curve with PVP so best thing to do is find a good group that you can learn with, since dueling is a thing now you can practice with your guild to see what works for you.

2h/bow is not effective he says... Jeez. Maybe that's a console thing. The meta on PC is absolutely 2h/bow, because it offers the best burst combinations in the game without being forced into weapon crit pots. Plus you can still run 5/5/2 in the sense that clever alchemist can be triggered on your back bar and you can have a different 5-piece set on your front bar.

Yeah it seems like there are always differences between PC and console. I can't speak for anything other than what I see on the servers I play on the console I play. And I have not seen nearly as many people using bow, Nighblades especially. I'm not proc stacking but most are. Most Stamblades I come across are running Black Rose/Viper/Proc dmg monster combinations because despite being kind of cheap it is effective.

I wouldn't be shocked to know that the average PS4 player is on a different curve than PC. I don't feel like solo play and dueling is as widely embraced on PS4 for one. PVP in PS4 is mostly zerg or ball group on another zerg or ball group. Much as I'd like it to be different it is frustrating trying to solo play in the current meta on PS4, just as its difficult to get alliances to cement and not fall apart, or keep people from chasing squirrels and focusing on an objective.
