World PvP

Hi. You might hate me for this but I came from WoW:) I played WoW when there weren't any flying mounts everywhere, when they appeared they killed world PvP. And I miss that a lot. I understand that with One Tamriel it's impossible that every character on opposing faction would be able to kill other opposing faction player, but I think there is an exit from this. Why not add an option in the group tab or whatever to enable world PvP? So that players that look for trouble would be able to find it?:) Cities should be out of it though and when the fight starts guards should run up and intervene. But outside the cities with Alliances at war it would be great to kill each other:)

Doubt this will ever happen. They won't even let us kill thieves in towns even though we've been asking for it since Thieves Guild DLC.

if you dont want to pvp just turn "OFF" your pvp flagg on the options menu and go about your business in pve.
but if you want to pvp then turn your flagg on

everyone happy with that option.

Nice idea but..

Majority of ESO players into PvE and safe, group (zerg wise) PvP actions. Thats why PvP cant improve aswell, so thats why i dont think that they would approve something like that. In my opinion PvP should include much more risks and sacrifice but after every patch PvP became in worst position, literally everyone running around with same armors (procs, tanks etc) and using same skills because its easy and safe. Simply, ESO doesnt want diversity in PvP, they want-ed sheeps and now almost everyone exactly like sheeps.

That would hurt PvP, plus quests there are PvP related I see no use of them for PvE crowd, PvP around the world won't hurt PvE in any way on the other hand.

A good compromise might be a page taken from Ultima Online which introduced the notion of open world PvP to a contemporary audience.

Yes, they had to back off of that or lose their audience entirely. But they kept part of it.

Allow guilds to declare war on one another. Players in warring guilds are flagged for one another enabling them to fight....anywhere.

Heck, folks are seeing PvP now in dueling pretty much everywhere. Just broaden it to guilds.

If we're being totally honest, the real PvE crowd is in a dungeon and they are unaffected by any PvP, dueling or otherwise. The crowd that is getting their feelings hurt are some other type of players that don't fit in with the PvP classification so we lump them into the PvE crowd because whatever they are fighting isn't players, it's open world AI (or other side-tasks).

In short, I think we are over exaggerating how competitive they are, they play for different purposes and their needs have to be looked at from a different perspective.

Not that I know what that perspective is rn. It's late.

i think you do not understand what i am saying.
if you go into your options menu, and turn off your pvp option it will make it so only "you" cant engage in pvp.
no one can attack you and you cannot attack others.
this has nothing to do with pve. you can still pve. both in cryodiil and also outside of cryodiil.
then maybe some day you DO want to kill some one in pvp, for example some one keeps stealing your boss, or mobbs, or taking the nodes you were trying to get ? just go into options and turn on your pvp flagg. IF that other person has his on also, then you can kill him.
this makes everyone satisfied because your not forced to pvp if you dont want to. and if you Do want to then you can

i think you do not understand what i am saying.
if you go into your options menu, and turn off your pvp option it will make it so only "you" cant engage in pvp.

This you have to take up with technical side of the game or your PC or whatever you have, as I understand PvE is questing and doing dungeons it have nothing to do with hanging out in the city, I hang out in the city too.

As a hardcore pve player I'm not against the idea of open world pvp as long as I get the option to disable pvp this would include pvp when entering cyrodiil so that when I'm not raiding I can leisurely work on achievements.

That being said open world would just turn out the same as cyrodiil with factions just zerging where ever a fight breaks out. It seems most pvp players are content with the convenient ap zerg farming and so I'm not sure what world pvp would achieve.

I play both pvp and pve and i like too keep them seperated personally.

Don't underestimate the impact of flags like this. It would have to constantly check who's got it's flag set to true and who does not. While it might not be a huge problem we have enough performance issues in ESO already to add anymore to it.
