PvP.
mDK isn't really great all magicka so I think it would be even worse if you went half weapon half spell damage or divided resources. You can however go stamina utility through dual sustain sets like blackrose or bloodthorn. That would give you the stamina recovery to handle blocking and cc break along with enough to use stam utility like pierce armor or reverberating bash. Maybe reverse slice for an execute but I have not tried that particular set up so I can't comment on it.
However, it would be fun to play with Pelinal's Aptitude Set and Trainee set (with non training traits). Running something like:
-Rings and amulet and 2 armor pieces of the Trainee set.
-3 Armor pieces and 2 longswords for the Pelinal's Aptitude Set.
(Run 5 medium, 1 heavy, 1 light armor pieces. Preferably the heavy piece to be the Armor as it will give the most bonus defensive stats).
-1 Malestorm bow for the second weapon bar.
This way you can use the first bar for Magica (as 2 swords give +5%damage). In addition the combination of 5 medium pieces and 2 swords gives the most weapon damage which is converted into spell damage by the set (I've seen people achieve above 5k weapon and spell damage with this).
Once you run out of magicka, you can switch to the Malestorm bow to use stamina based skills until magica regenerates. This combination is good for high damage and no need on putting points in stamina or magica regen enchants or birth sign skills.
Although its a fun way to play as a DPS, it is definitely not optimal. In addition, running magica and stamina skills would require you to use 6-10 damage skills so you wont have that much free slots for buffing or defuffing skills to be slotted.
Also, in order for this build to be possible, you will need to enchant all items with those helth/magica/stamina enchantments which are expensive.
