How good are the Vampire passives and spells for a High Elf Sorc in PvP?

oTheTownDrunk
Thinking about taking on being a vampire for my High Elf Sorc for pvp. Are the passives and skills worth the extra fire damage ill be taking? Havent tried it out before so just thinking of any more improvements I can make on survivable and damage.

Worry less about fire and more about Dawnbreakers. But yes, I'd say the pros outweight the cons.

I tested it a long time ago and I think that the extra damage taken was applying on shields as well. If that's the case at the moment, then I would say it's not worth it.

Does dawnbreaker deal fire damage? I thought it was Magicka damage.

Dawnbreaker does physical damage, and with the Skilled Tracker passive in the Fighters Guild line it does 20% extra damage to Daedra, Undead and WW. So it hits pretty hard against a Vampire. Your shield will take most of the damage, and you can reshield to absorb the DoT, but it hurts a lot if you get hit by more than 1 at a time.

If that's worth extra regen, faster sneak speed, and a sometimes useful increased resiliency at low health to you, then it's worth it.

Sneak speed passive is a huge quality of life improvement. I don't know about being on a sorc, but my mDK has been a vamp since forever and I'm plenty tanky even in light armor.

I don't find the Vampire skills particularly useful; Batswarm is still a good ulti, and Elusive Mist is still a good escape (but on a Sorc you've got Streak which is also good), except on my sorc tank for the ultimate gain with Invigorating Drain. But the passives are pretty attractive.

Extra damage to vampires because of a passive in the skill line.
You get a bit more sustain but become vulnerable to Dawnbreaker burst combos and many magicka dps. The passives are utility and more suited to nightblades. Ult is average, drain useless unless you really need the cc (mag DKs) and mistform is good, but you'll be having troubles to include it in your bar slots.
Overall, it's fairly balanced and won't make or break your fight, but absolutely objectively make you 400% cooler!

If you´re experienced and can manage the extra incoming dmg - yes it´s worth it.
If you´re not comfortable on sorc yet - find something fitting for you without making life harder in destinct situations first.

On a sorc I don't think I'd go vampire. The only real draw to it is mist form to deal with undodgeable damage like soul assault, eye of the storm, and meteor, but a Sorc can usually shield through those abilities since they don't have to worry about crits on their shields. Dark Stalker isn't something I see Magicka Sorcs making much use of, and the 10% regen isn't worth the damage risk from fire staffs, EOTS, mDKs.

Hmm...I've been a vampire on one of my sorcs for so long, and now I'm a little talked out of it. Might try running without it.

Since you have one of the best escape mobility in the game, mist form is useless. This is primarily the point of running vampire for many builds. Bats is a great healing ultimate but you need to be up close and that's not your preferred distance as a destro sorc.

Id say it's useless mostly since the passives don't go well with your shield nor streak.

Vamp is defo worth it for a sorc. Any extra damage can be partially mitigated with cp spent in hardy, ele defender and thick skinned. The regen is ok but not the best boon, the sneak speed is nice but not needed. The real boon is the undeath passive which has saved my life more times than I could count, by leaving me with some life left to cast wards. I would take vamp for this passive only.

I think with a sorc it's personal preference, the regen is ok but not really anything to get excited about and bat swarm is great but it is close range which isn't a best suit for a sorc. The speed to go into stealth in stage 4 is good if you want that. I had it on my magsorc and just dropped it to use the skill points in other skill trees and to be honest i haven't seen any difference is surviabilty. A magblade though, Vamp is an absolute must.

The biggest con of being a Vampire will likely turn out to be your new appearance.

Vampires look terrible and we need an option to toggle On and Off the Vampire appearance.

Besides that, I've run a Magicka Sorc main since PS4 launch and have only switched to Vampire this month. No regrets!

The biggest problem I see is that you're usually dead to the fire destro ultimate before you finish reaching for a shield or mist form button.

I tried it. I cured it. You can keep the extra fire damage on the first 2/3 of my health thanks. It's all a matter of personal preference, but IMO sorcs are squishy enough without having to stress burning effects.

Just about everyone in Cyrodiil is a vampire now, a fire destro staff if your best friend. Fire heavy attacks, flame reach, infernal guardian fireballs, meteor, and flame EoTS keeps the AP flowing and the mist forms hauling ass away from you as fast as their undead legs can carry them. It's hilarious.

Cue 'elder vampires online' meme I'm too lazy to make.

I personally can't imagine playing any magika build without mist form, so for me, vamp is a must.

No, once all the fire ballistas come down on you along with all the other fire damage, you'll get blobbed by the mob and you will die quickly.
