Health recovery build

Working on a health regeneration focused dk build. Right now he's an orc but I'm wondering if I should switch him to nord. Obviously the build is meant to be tanky and if I was going for raw tanking it would be nord, but he's going to be meant for 1v1 or small group pvp mainly so I'm wondering if the orcs damage bonus would be more worth it than the damage reduction from a nord

Before i'd say yes...now i'm not so sure because of all the new Pen Sets out there that 6% bonus ends up actually being used a bit more on tanky builds

The 6% reduced damage from Nord works out to be a lot like +6% max health combined with +6% healing/health regen taken. But without the benefits to max health related skills.

Nord looks slightly better from the min/max defense vs offense comparison. But I wouldn't recommend a race change until after you play the build a bit and decide you want more defense

It is a question of wether you want offense or defense. You cannot really compare the Orc vs Nord bonus as one is offensive and one is Defensive.

But IMO Orc is BiS if you are doing a StamSorc Health Regen. Nord is BiS if you are doing a DK. Simply because the speed of a stamsorc synergizes well with the Orc speed and damage. Whereas the slow DK synergizes better with Nord for taking more damage in general.

Good points guys, I guess I'll wait a bit until I get more heavy into pvp and see if I feel like I need to be a bit more tanky to get the results I'm wantint

Are you going to be doing enough damage so that +4% melee damage is significant? For me the choice between Orc or Nord would come down to sprint speed/cost and healing received as an Orc versus damage take reduction and higher health as a Nord.
I don't think that small melee boost makes much difference for the type of play I think you're talking about.

Last time I checked, which was quite some time ago, the Nord 6% was applied multiplicatively and amounted to only a few percent actual mitigation. Has that changed?
