What constitutes a "monster" for new recipe acquisiton?

I ask because "monster" is a generic term. While I could claim any enemy npc is a monster because they are my enemy, I could also claim that monster could not include humanoid npc. It would be helpful to get some more specific information on this. @ZOS_GinaBruno

Also, What are we doing about all the uncertainty in Belkarth these days?

Argonians in PvP count as monsters, even though our Dunmer "cousins" have become foolish enough to count them as people.

Maybe the uncertainty in Belkarth these days has something to do with where we can find these Ciphers?

I agree with the OP. Some clarification would be nice as they have made differences before between humanoid vs non-humaniod, etc. So, as far as mechanics go, what is a monster exactly?

i agree with the question and want to know answer also, because i have killed a few delve bosses in cryodiil and not getting the new recipe drop at all from anything i kill in cryodiil.
but the patch notes said cryodiil was included.
so i must ask also, what actually is giving the recipe drop ?

While I agree with this question, I also want to know how many people actually got a drop today lol. After 50 kabillion kills, I have zero. It says its a super rare drop, but I would like to know the actual percentage it drops. If it is say, .0000000000001% chance to drop, that would be great information to have lol.

YES! I was going to post this exact question earlier. Been having the exact same conversations. What do they mean by monster? Do they mean the generic "every enemy", or monsters as in zombies, daedric creatures, etc. Do you class a Sabre Cat and a Giant as a monster? Personally I wouldn't, they are wildlife if anything. Naturally occurring...

This is more like the reality of the new implement. Their meaning of 'super rare drop' is more than likely like there is just one available in the entire game and with some astronomically low chance to ever drop. BUT it is still there, cos they say so

Considering a systematic interpretation, the term is present within those sets which grant the Minor Slayer Buff. Of course, in a different contest (Dungeon and Trial) but still with Capital letters.

I just want clarification so I am not wasting time killing things that do not count. I finished some achievements, killing ghosts and atronachs. But I avoided human type enemies. If anything I kill counts, I want to know that. I change what I am doing all the time, so today I may have wanted to see what I could get in terms of the new drops but tomorrow I will more than likely move on to something else.

Aetherial Dust is very rarely found on the resource nodes in certain zones - it can appear on ore, raw cloth, fallen wood, alchemical herbs and mushrooms, and water sources. It is not found on monsters.

We are talking about the Aetheric Cipher, which only drops from monsters, whatever they are. This is the item you need in order to create the recipe for the new Ambrosia. It is classed as a recipe fragment. The dust is the ingredient that is indeed found in nodes.

I'm right there with you two. I spent most of yesterday just killing monsters and harvesting stuff and I didn't find a single Cipher nor any Dust.

I am really thinking they just put it in the game so they can say they did it when they release the Crown Crates.... which I will never, ever, ever buy any of on principle alone.

I am pretty sure you could fill a swimming pool with nirncrux before getting a single dust.

I have to think the Cipher is even more rare.

If not for the fact that MM picked up a single sale of the dust in one of my trade guilds, I'd think that they didn't add it at all, just said they did in the patch notes. :P Maybe I'm being too cynical.
