Dizzy swing VS Surprise attack for stamblade?

Evening ladies and germs. I've been playing the black rose tremmor scale viper 1h/2h cancer stam sorc build and I'm looking for something different. Looking for some advice as I've got a NB that I put a lot of effort into that I thought was just my crafting toon (EG all skill lines maxed, undaunted, legerdemain, DB blahblah you get the gist) and I'm thinking about trying a build and would like to ask if people have had good results with it. Basically I want to do a 5 Widowmaker 2 velidreth 3 agil vMA 2h and masters bow build. My main question is, Dizzy swing or surprise attack for my main DPS skill? Dizzy swing tends to be very VERY buggy for me with my ping (Playing from Australia with 600ms on a good day) and it causes many frustrations. EG: see an eternal hunt user dodge roll, and being hit by the snare and damage when I've made the up most effort to avoid the obvious bait and trap. (7 meters away from the circle and still get snared in it <,<) As well as dizzy just cancelling out for no reason, No one walking through me, running around me in circles, not to mention it takes 3-5 seconds instead of 1.1 like the tool-tip says. Any help and thoughts would be appreciated. Hope you're all having a good day/night and I hope to have an open, clean discussion :D

With the current influx of heavy armor builds I'd stick with surprise attack, which will lower your targets physical resistance. Spamming DS against a heavy armor guy blocking will do literally nothing at all except waste your stamina and make you vulnerable. You also get major ward and resolve just by using surprise attack, which will make you tankier in return. So just by doing DPS with SA, you're lowering your targets defences and bolstering your own.

Thank you for your input, much appreciated!

For CC would you recommend using one of the fear morphs?

Absolutely man. You can't go wrong with mass hysteria.

    - Goes through perma blockers
    - Hits multiple people
    - Snares them
    - Lowers their damage done to you

Mass hysteria has got to be one of the best CCs in the game.

All stam NBs have prety much same skill setup with very little divergence. Main bar: Surprise attack- Killers blade/2H execute-Ambush-Mass hysteria-Rally....Buff bar: Relentless focus-Shuffle-Vigor-Cloak-Poison Injection. You already have your cancer gear setup, so you'r good to go.

Yeah, Dizzying Swing is terrible against all the block-bots running around in Cyrodiil nowadays. The animation also tends to bug out now and then and overall it's just very easy to avoid for most competent players.

Use fear as your hard CC instead... it's way easier to CC enemies that way. Your class has been gifted with a great stamina instant damage skill, make good use of it. ;)

This is coming from the point of view of a certified uppercut spammer...

Even though Wrecking Blow 5 times both bars sounds fun to say, surprise attack is one of the best single dmg skill especially since it gives you the major fracture buff.

    Surprise Attack + Mass Hysteria.

Otherwise play a different stam class if you're not going to use the best stamina ST ability in the game coupled with the best CC in the game.

Dizzy swing is a great ability to use as a nb as long as they don't see it coming

Ideally you'd use both... Dizzy Swing with a heavy attack for the knock back and then animation cancel Surprise Attack with light attacks while he's getting up and breaking free. Its huge burst, a buggy CC that might not break and insane damage in less than 2 seconds. Pretty much a guaranteed kill.

Surprise attack for me: 1) is istant and in laggy situation is a big advantage and 2) it's a nice armor debuff. Add to that you got a lot more easy to animation cancel a light or heavy attack and that dizzy swing is quite easy to avoid if you plan to spam it outside of stalth.

Surprise Attack in one combination or another with Incapacitating Strike and Ambush is the best way to go.

Surprise attack because of it's debuff and instant cast, which allows you to play twice as fast. Dizzying Swing user NBs are mostly free AP imho.

Surprise Attack is probably the most useful skill in the game. For one relatively low cost, high damage ability you get: Major Fracture (enemy), Stun and Off Balance from stealth (enemy), Major Ward and Major Resolve (self) and a 3% Max Health buff for slotting the Shadow Skill.

But what if all you need is one dizzying swing then I guess you'll be giving the free ap huh

DS is a real hit or miss skill. Up against a blocker with no can-opener, you're going to be wasting shots hitting the guy with DS. With fear, you can hit the guy more, but like DS StamSorc you're not getting in as many hits. Though if you played a StamSorc and ran it, there is a couple of ways you probably already figured out to connect DS without them dodging it.

SA will crack him open a little bit more with fracture, you're going to have to take a real good study at how the animation works. Its got a little bit of a long delay after the initial hit, you can animation cancel it, though it always proved tricky for me to get it down consistently. Like another poster said, once you activate it you gain armor buffs from Shadow Barrier that increases the duration depending on the amount of Heavy armor equipped. So its a great tool that helps you stand your ground and keep attacking in heavy armor.

I say toy around with both and see how your rotation feels. I wouldn't rely on Fear too too much. Gonna need to keep that magic handy for your other utility tools in your pocket. But Fear>DS or Fear>SA is a great combo when you can get the hit in.

Use surprise attack. Its a no brainer. You can weave light/heavy attacks effortlessly with SA. No other class can weave like a stam nb.
