Suggestions for a good set to pair with Vicious Death

hey, been experimenting with my magsorc recently...got some really great input concerning abilities - loving dawn's wrath and destructive clench...

been wearing the Phoenix and VD sets for the last few months...after a month or so on the forums - i'm now thinking that it might not be such a great idea to equip two "gimmick" type sets at once...

went ahead and crafted up some julianos, it didn't really do much more for me then adding a few hundred SD and raising the critical some...

just wondering if any one has any favorite VD set pairings...

for what it's worth - big fan of the Phoenix set...so many times it saved me (mostly from myself

)...no big deal to get rezz'd at a keep, or more than likely from another player...but when it worked it felt a little like cheating death...once, just once during a 1v1 the Phoenix blast actually killed the other person...definitely felt like I got over...

I have a bunch of VD gear, so I'll probably just add in 5 pieces of armor, wears all light...I can craft up to 8 traits...thanks...

I use Clever Alc as a pair with it, for some spikey SD etc. Julianos gives grit, so if you need that its good but more PvE really.

Interested to hear your view of Phoenix as I've been considering it for smaller scale PvP (imp city) etc as often that 5th VD trait is sat wasted. And I die alot it seems haha.

Is it reliable? And do you feel you just get lunched a second time sometimes?

I also don't want it in Impen, pointless for a Warr user really, it that's the only option at 160CP no?

@Beardimus ...just checked inventory - it looks like impenetrable is it for the Phoenix set...

I like the 4th piece bonus from the clever set...for my sorcerer though I only really use his stamina (around 12k) for sneaking around, healing (vigor) and breaking free...

I found Phoenix most useful in more open combat...IC is like fighting in a closet a lot of times...it actually has been very handy in a number of pve dungeon boss fights...

if you can successfully master streak - the Phoenix set works really well for getting a second chance...if you're surrounded by a Zerg - yeah, folks tend to laugh at you a bit after you get swallowed up following your big Phoenix proc - it is a pretty dramatic move...

for me - I finally just got tired of running away all the time with my mage - so, I'm looking to maybe put on a better 5 piece light armor sustain set to go with VD...

Ok thanks, I didn't register that it worked in PvE as well, interesting for a play perhaps.

Re Alchemist, its not a stamina set? It's 1k Health / 1k Health / 129 Spell Dam / 650 Spell Dam. I find the two go quite nicely as you are spiking damage really high to try to get the kill to trigger VD.

Krags is an ok set. Again some health and spell dam.

How's your resources? Otherwise Seducer For regen or Magnus for general Sorc traits.

Necropotence if you have pets

Come on now...I know some of ya'll are using it - at least a couple of times a week - proxi det followed by VD will show up on my death recap - usually next to some big numbers...(whoever was the evil genius at Zos to figure out a way to have your own allies kill you - much praise - not a funnier more frustrating death recap in the game)...

spill the beans and give up your secrets - pleeeeze

VD + clever build only works on NA servers anyway. People on EU to good for that XD

@Qbiken ...okay, I'll bite - so, does that mean there are no "clever" sorcerers out your way looking for that two (sometimes 3 or 4) for one special...

VD certainly loves company...cuz if I can get 1 or 2 of your buddies, chances are decent I might just get you too as a very nice little bonus...

To be fair I've struggled to ever get a big reaction of VD. BUT I have seen EU Xbox players (NB's) get it to kick off on big groups, buffed up to billy-o then charge in with a proxy / ultimate combo BOOM.

I run Inevitable set as charging in close with Proxy on a Sorc ain't fun, and it got nerfed to hell and back just after I unlocked it, unless there's 15-20 people it seems pants now.

Back to your point OP, ur asking advice what to run with it, it what are you eying to achieve is the question, as all the main sets are viable depends what ur looking for

since we're being honest - while thinking about this post I've actually started accumulating the elegance set to replace the VD set (ran it for a few months and I'm ready for a change, time to put it on the shelf)...

I'll probably just run VD with julianos until I get all the elegant pieces I need (there goes another 70k or so - sometimes I feel like my gear experiments are what fuel the entire Tamriel economy

)

yeah, I was never much a proxi det, run into the Zerg and die kinda player...mostly use it with mages wrath to pick off low health players...

it's hard to put it away - just cuz I know how much the VD death recap drives me crazy (I really enjoyed sharing that with others

)

I was hoping to build up my sorcerer so he can stand and fight a little more and not have to feel like I'm always running for my life (fight a little more like my templar and dk - who do a whole lot more chasing than getting chased)...

thinking of it more - i may just go with 5 pc julianos, 3 pc (4 with SnB bar) VD and dust off and drag my willpower jewelry set out of the closet...
