Gap Closer for Duel Wield

I really want to play a stam character in PVP but the problem is the only class a duel wield/ bow combo is viable on the Nightblade and personally Im not a nightblade fan. If possible I think a gap closer ability should be unlockable on duel wield because its impossible to keep up with magic builds otherwise. Im about to just have a high elf sorc and templar on all factions if not

Nope the different weapons are meant to have just that a different feel. Want a gap closer you have 2 hand or sword and board. Want more damage go dual wield. Want range go now.
Why have everything that can do everything.
Dual wield bow works on stamblade and stam sorc.

Edited: forgot silver leash from fighters guild can act as a gap closer. Not the best but it's there to use if you so desperately want a gap closer on dual wield bow for dk or stamplar.

My Templar plays DW/bow. I have the Templar class skill Toppling Charge on my DW bar and love it. I especially like the speed of the charge.

Sure, give DW a gap closer... just as soon as you make 2H and staves count as 2 set pieces.

Yeah I guess Im talkin more just stam sorc because he doesnt have a class gap closer. Mybe just drop the stupid summoning and replace those abilities once they ever make a necromancer class

I disagree. Dual wield is a melee weapon, and a gap closer is an important part of melee playstyles. It's incredibly important to prevent pesky mages or archers from kiting you and keeping pressure on an enemy.

I'd replace hidden blade with some kind of roguish or swashbuckling themed dash attack. Maybe differentiate it from other's via it's morphs; one applies a bleed DoT that heals a la Blood Craze, the other does...I dunno. Provide a rare buff like Major Berserk or Minor Force for like, two seconds or something?

Edit: also, silver leash is a joke that makes me want to end my life. Reworking that to be more reliable is a good alternative though.

Stam sorc has bolt escape. Magicka gap closer and stun if you morph it to streak. Yeah you can't endless gap close but isn't that the point. Who wants to gapclose someone across the entire map.

Edited: forgot to add bolt escape will give you 2% more weapon damage and add to your disintegration passive.

Bolt escape isn't a gap closer though. It's a mobility tool.

it can be used as a gap closer. Think of it as hard mode you have choose your direction instead of blindly mashing a button to find a player.

I dual-wield on a DK - there is a gap closer ability - which can either pull the enemy to you or you can pull yourself to him.

It sounds like you've never tried to use bolt escape as a gap closer. I can tell you it just runs into many of the same problems as silver leash; unreliable and takes too long, plus it costs far too much for such a simple goal that you're trying to accomplish.

I'll admit I haven't used it thoroughly. Fair enough then sorcs would be better off slotting a real gap closer so 2h or sword and board.

and there's nothing wrong with talking about changing things. It's just talking. You don't have to respond with "Things are the way they are because that's the way they're intended now deal with it because I don't like change or the potential that things might change." or whatever variant of that tried and true ignorance it may be

I understand that gap closer being added to dual wield is being discussed but my thinking is that the reason it hasn't been added and probably won't is to give weapon types a different feel.
Anyway discuss away.

Yeh. Sorry. Didn't really mean it to come off in a jerkish way like that. Just it's a typical behaviour I see on these forums and beyond in response to people talking about changing things.

Quick cloak for speed.
Flying Dagger for snare.

You should be fine with these two abilitys.

Personally i dont think dw/bow would require a gap closer because you have bow and flying blade as ranged options to force your enemy to gap close you.

Just throwing out ideas.

No offense OP, but aren't you asking for too much? Stamina already pulls the highest DPS, but both in PVE and PVP. They have access to numerous universal executes, and also can obtain a 2pcs. set bonus utilizing dual-wield. And now you're asking for stamina to have yet another gap closer? Are you fully aware that magicka builds doesn't even have a universal execute? As well as suffer from sustain issues, while stamina is doing fabulously? Boy I tell ya. People have some rather "interesting" logic.

Because it takes up two inventory spots but truthfully that becomes a buff to 2H which does not need a buff at all in fact it needs a nerf.

The only resone DW is a viable weapon endgame is the VMA Malestrom buff is so good it borders on broken good. When VMA weapons become last gen so will DW unless third tier epic weapon overbuff the *** of whirlwind which does not need a buff either.

The only way Dual Wield could get a gap closer anyway is by making it the Ultimate of that Skill Line, which is basically the same as relying on Dragon Leap for a gap closer.

I wish ZOS would have turned Silver Leash (Fighters Guild skill morph) into a legitimate stamina gap closer. This would have instantly made DW a more viable PvP option and given players another alternative to Crit Charge.

But alas, ZOS dropping balls all over the damned place per usual.

The differences is what makes it fun!

And both templars and DKs also have their own class skill gap closer option, only sorcs are a bit more limited in this particular regard... though there are workarounds if you really want to go that way.

I agree with the op that dw should have a gap closer... or all classes should have one. I don't care if it's a morph of blade cloak or flying blade. Why? DW is predominantly a melee skill line, which means you need to get into melee. You shouldn't need to slot another weapon to be able to use 1/2 the skills or to rely on a speed boost (which is inherently unreliable). How would ranged users feel if they couldn't use their weapons in melee range?

But zos have greatly improved DW and all classes bar sorcerers have a gap closer of some type. Streak / Bolt Escape is not a gap closer. It doesn't close the gap - it moves you a fixed distance, it is unreliable and it has a stacking cost.

there must be differences, pros and cons to every choice
