Double Resto Staffs, Embrace It

I like playing with two staves. I know I don't get the extra weapon and spell damage I'd get from duel wielding, or even the extra enchant from a sword and board. Over the past few years I've learned that I'm awful at fighting close up, but can whoop up with a staff with the best of them. That said, I've recently moved from destro-resto to resto-resto and LOVE IT.

First off making them have different enchants is obvious. My DPS bar has the +348 for 5 seconds weapon/spell damage enchant and my heal bar has a self heal enchant. What this means is that I can basically hold heavy attack constantly and either be buffing my next spell, or healing myself instead of just swinging at air with my sword. Also each heavy attack gets me 30% more magic back than my destro staff did.

Put them together and my DPS bar still has 40k magic and, when buffed, just north of 3k spell damage. For reference this means the tool tip on my Breath of Life is above 11k and ice comet is still above 17k.

Anyway, it's a fun way to play. About the only person who could kill me last night was Emperor Iloverainbows. Thought I'd share with the crowd.

TLDR: Resto-Resto actually works great in Cyrodiil.

I am sad that this is either been so profound that no one can muster up the words to praise the glory of the double resto staff, or the forum trolls have all past on.

My Magicka Templar group healer operates with two Resto staves for similar reasons. Seems pretty obvious to me, but then again I do PvE. I've never put a self-heal enchant on one of them, though. Will have to try it.

I can see how you can hit 40k magicka but 3+k buffed spell damage has to be a bit hard with the restro staff. DW no problem. What is your gear set up?

5 Julianos, 2 Magus, Kena Helm, Willpower Jewelry. It's around 2500 unbuffed but entropy (or potions) and the spell power enchant bring me above 3000.

The self heal does just over 2000 magic damage and restored just over 800 health. It's quite useful.

I have a double D-Staff Mage that can hit 3k+ Spell Damage while buffed. He also runs 5 Julianos and 3 Willpower but no Kena.

Couldn't you use a Shock staff and achieve the same result but also give you access to the destro line, and the 100% damage bonus to nearby enemies when completing the heavy attack, and reduce the time it takes to deal a heavy attack? Don't get me wrong, I am happy for you, and if you're enjoying it, please continue to do so, but just a suggestion I'd say worth considering.

I never saw the benefit of going DW on my Sorcerer, since, well, I could not weave light and heavy attacks with the DW and be as effective as weaving with a Destro Staff.

I don't know about using Restro Staffs offensively, but that is just me.

What I do, in the PvE world, with my Detro Staffs is have one set up for AoE Trash Mobs and one set for Single Target Boss DPS. I guess you could do the same with Resto, but not sure what you use to replace Impulse.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

With a couple of points in staff mastery, you should be doing 8-10K on a heavy fire attack with a sharpened fire staff. More, if the other guy is a vampire (FOTM, it seems that everyone is). Plus it drops a DOT that ticks surge heals.

Open up with a fire heavy and the other guy is 12K down and burning. Then hit him with curse, frags, etc.

I'm with anyone that skips out on force pulse (crap) for something else, but a flame destro staff is actually great filler. I have a magicka DK friend that pulls insane 20K fire staff hits. The hate tells he gets are glorious. (Blah blah you cheat engine 10 year old!!)

I used to run destro-resto but I've found more benefit from the added Magic regen.

Also, I was able to test it out in combat at my buffed spell power was 3335 with my magic at 40520. I'm having fun in Cyrodiil today for sure.

This whole thread, and especially that video a few posts up, is making me feel quite salty.

In the begining of the game the resto staff was the best dps weapon. Not joking, one of the passives had raw damage increase.

No. First off, only magicka DK's can pull that off with their huge weapon damage bonus skill. Magick sorcs are still f***ed, that thread is a valid problem.

Second, it takes some setup to pull off. Mage light, empower, Kena proc. It's not like every shot hits that hard. That and the 50K is halved with battle spirit, then magicka resists apply.

Third, it's blockable, dodge able, and interruptible.

Fourth, stam nightblades can pull off one shot builds much more effectively. You don't even see it coming and bam! Dead. Wrobel drooling idiot balance.

Fifth, damage that high requires a crit, and Impen usually prevents that.

Last of all, that whole "Has ZOS forgotten magicka" thread is asking for magicka buffs. We want reduced costs, better damage on destruction staves, easier resource management, and better sets. None of us (well most of us) don't want to see stamina nerfs.
