Can the morph of Eclipse: Unstable core be comparable to the Magicka Det spell?

Or is Magicka Det line just supreme AoE period?

The reason I ask this is because even though Magicka Det is increased by surrounding targets and has a slightly wider AoE radius, Unstable core has a higher base damage, can be placed on multiple targets and doesn't rely on being melee range to be instant in the case of Proxydet. (I hate being in melee range as a caster, stupid concept imo).

Keep in mind, this is in terms of PvE. Not PvP.

Unstable core is fun to play around with if you have on vicious death and this enemy is stacked closely, particularly when purge was broken, but outside of minor entertainment is ultimately a bad skill. Go with Magicka det.

Eclipse as it exists just makes me angry. This skill has been a smoking garbage heap ever since they put cc immunity in the game and decided Eclipse was going to be part of it.

I wish they'd do us all a favor and make all reflects a 33% chance.
Next give them a 30 second duration.
Eclipse should be able to multi target like in the old days.
Give us Reflect a reflect back. (Unless this somehow fries their cpu's)

Well the unstable core morph doesn't reflect anymore though.

Basically, it almost doubles the explosion damage and gives you the ability to apply it onto multiple targets. Soooo the utility factor is irrelevant. Keep in mind folks, this is a PvE thread soooo I have little interest into PvP lol

I don't think the PvP/PvE dichotomy should exist. DCUO does it best by coming up with pvp balance first, and then making that interesting in a pve realm. It works well. I really wish the devs would just learn a lot from DCUO.

I'm aware that unstable core doesn't reflect - I just don't like the skill. You're right if they're going that road it should do more damage. I also think Backlash should do a SMALL damage tick for its duration and should bring enemies out of stealth. Its short duration but its a beam of light from heaven, and frankly Piercing mark is significantly better. Dawn's Wrath in general has been clunky, which is why they had to get rid of Blinding Flashes and turn it into a magic laserbeam.
