I disagree with the OP's suggestion about selling more research slots as it turns into something you just buy to make faster progress. You already get faster research times for ESO plus membership as it is. It would be nice if we could learn more than one trait on an individual piece at a time though.

On a quick calculation, a non ESO+ member who is a master crafter in all three skill lines before you start researching (i.e. you can research 3 at a time and have the reduced researched times from the beginning), you are still going to take about 450 days to learn all 9 traits on all clothing and blacksmithing items, a bit less than half that time for woodworking.

My crafter has been researching since last year and is still waiting for the 8th trait on some to be finished so I can research the 9th. It does not bother me as I don't intend on using it for personal gain - just another achievement I can tick off.

Mind you, I found the Imperial crafting trait in a chest on the weekend so there could be some money to be made in 9 trait (or even nirnhoned) Imperial gear down the track B)

Is there money in that with the number of people who have Imperial crafters? Wouldn't the better money be in selling the Imperial motif book?

There's always money to be made if you are not greedy about it. I already have more in game gold than I think I will ever need so am more interested in turning things over for the fun of it rather than getting top dollar or cornering the market in anything.

Besides, you can only sell the motif once.

Honestly I just wished though sold trait you wanted to research on the crown store, waiting years to get all the traits is just a ridiculous time sink.

How are you not finished with your research? It doesn't take that long.

    @TheValkyn

Define "that long" cause there are a lot of slots to research for all of crafting.
How long did it take you and when did you start?
Have you completed all traits on everything in the game?

They even shortened it by adding a passive to limit max research times xD. I mean - COME ON!

    @TheValkyn

No idea if you know what "long" refers to but on that last trait it's 25 days per so being limited to three at a time, that's a bet long time.
Personally I've only done light armor.
I still have a couple medium, staves and heavy armor for all 9 trait on one character.
Have you done them all yourself ?
    Takes about a year

I started researching traits in April 2014. Finished with 9/9 in all traits June 2015. YES! It takes a while!. (Yes, I have ESO+ and the passives)..

I agree researching takes way to long and needs to be addressed, but putting it on the crown store should never be an option.

The only way I would accept any speed up of the research is if it were a new skill line, engineer, scholar or science or some such, and having to spend Skill points on passives that give a very small bonus on research time, basically give with one hand and take with the other.

I've noticed that a great many people seem to be focused on "I need to make the ultimate set of gear/ master these crafts, in order to win the game", which is fine - don't get me wrong, and definitely speaks to the P2W perception. However, I would think of it more as a "Play your way" approach.
For more casual players, like myself, who are not seeking to master all the crafting arts in under two weeks, the current crafting/crown store system is fine with me. I haven't set a "timeline" to level up my characters or max out my equipment, or get all the crafting skills, so there's no pressure, (and much less cost) involved.
You can play at pace and really immerse yourself in the world, or you can spend the extra crowns for all the "boosters" and get to the ultimate equipment/character/skill line much faster. It all depends on which type of game play you prefer.
That being said, I think there should be some way to backwards engineer items/weapons from a crafting motif if you loot a piece of equipment from a style you don't currently have available. We shouldn't be completely reliant on the crown store or rare drops to flesh out the libraries.

I would like to be able to spend a skill point on a 4th slot.

I would think that Crown slots would be hard to manage if Skill points were reset.

NO! The research system is one of worse ideas for a game ever. It belongs in a cheap clash of clans rip off for iphones and not in a full priced AAA title. It should be removed or at least tweaked. The only reason it exist is to sell subs(since ESO+ reduces the time it takes).

Normally, I don't have a lot of respect for the "we had to do it the hard way, so so do you" concept, but this was supposed to be a real time-consuming accomplishment, and the OPs idea undercuts that accomplishment.

If it feels like grinding, it kills my enthusiasm, so most of my characters aren't maxed on anything, research, riding, whatever.

    I guess it's anti-OCD
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

None of my characters have mastered anything yet and I've been playing since beta. It's just not a big priority for me. I get more enjoyment out of just exploring the in game environment and seeing what I run into outside of the quest lines.
