PVP Damage Questions and some help with dealing with NBs

First off about me. I'm an older gamer who loves to PVP. I've been doing it since UO and played all the big PVP MMOs (DAOC, WAR, WoW, AoC). I just bring this up to prove I'm not a PVP newb but I definitly don't know everything and I learn stuff everyday. I tweak my builds constantly and read Tamriel Foundry and here religiously to learn more about ESO. With that said I need some help before I throw in the towel due to frustration.

Please look at the pic and answer a few questions for me. I'm in Purple 150 lvled Julianos (5 light Juli, 2 med seducer) with full Impen on my Templar. Right now my health is around 24k and my magica is near 32k. My first observation was the shooting star. I run this sometimes too. I honestly can't remember if this was a pulse from it or two seperarte hits. If I remember right my initial hit, hits harder than this. I just recently began running all impen so I don't know if it helps drop the crit damage that much or not but for a pulse that seems high to me. After seeing some of the vids of cheaters spamming ultimates this got me curious. Especially when the 2 guys (blocked out to prevent naming and shaming)on this SS ganked me a few times over the weekend. One on different characters.
Second, That caltrop damage seems absurd to me..In the past I'd get hit for 400-600 ticks but almost 6k! Please tell me that's wrong..
Lastly, I need some help fighting NBs. On my magica DK and Templar they eat me up. One of the guys in the pic here has a NB too (name almsot identical except a tick mark over an I)..well below 50 and he was hitting me for 5k-6.5k a hit in my armor. Not only that this guys NB along with others basically perma stun me. I can spam break free to no avail generally. I've mainly been forced to run radiant mage light to help but with their fears and then ambush and surpise attack/concealed weapon spam I normally don't stand a chance. I need some help folks. I don't care about winning them all but damn..just a chance might re spark my interest. I would go into a bit more detail but I'm at work.

You're sitting in caltrops. Death recap shows up TOTAL damage by caltrops, not just one tick.

What is your jewelry? Mundus? We need more char stats to work with (you can screenshot your character sheet).

What do your skill bars look like? You likely need a mitigation buff, either Major Ward/Resolve (Rune focus and morphs) or you can even run Shuffle.

What weapons are you using? Sword n' board (SnB) can be an option for extra survivability.

Do you run Health/mag food buff? Tristat food? Something else?

Side note: For mag builds, it is usually recommended to have about 15k stamina, so you may consider either trifood, or running a few tristat glyphs (made with Hakeijo, now available for cheap in IC).

As I had suspected but dared to say this might be a L2P issue even though I've been on eso since day 1. We never stop learning though so I can handle the sting..

Well I'll have to wait until I get off to get a character sheet screenshot. Both of my characters, Mag or Stam, run shuffle. My templar runs restoring focus mainly since I feel I keep my magica up pretty well with heavy attacks. My stamina runs around 10k if I'm not mistaken.
As far as weapons I run Destro (with penetration) and resto (precise I believe for crit) staves. I've been trying to decide on running SnB instead of destro even though It's not how I see my character. For survivabilites sake I'll normally do what needs to be done though.

Mundus stone is theif and I'm running around 49 % crit If I remember right. I lost some running impen instead of divines (I just went back mag from stam)

Jewelry isn't a set since I cant find nor can I afford the willpower ones. I run a purple adriotness (?) necklace and 2 blue regen ones. All 140-150.

I run the Health/magica blue lvl 150 food. Looks like I need to move to the purple tri food...

How in the world do you all handle nighblades..I'm curious. If I use my CC abilities (which I love from other pvp games) they hardly ever work. Every seems to be immune. For some reason though a NB can jump me from stealth and I'm perma locked. I can spam to break CC and it's like beating off a crushing python with a wooden spoon. I always hear most are glass cannons you just have to survive the initial stun/hit but damn it man I'm unsuccessful almost all of the time. I feel I can put up a decent fight for most classes but If I'm heading back to the herd after a death you can bet your arse even I took a 5 mile detour around death highway those ganking NBs will smell my fear and find me. Any help is appreciated.

So were those 5k ticks from shooting star?!? I'm assuming since you say it looks like I was standing in caltrops for awhile. Normally I just SS when I get rolled in those 3 sec instagib scenarios so I can morn later, punch the screen, and cry about imbalance.

I have my suspicions that CC immunity is a bit flaky. I almost always have Unstoppable up, and even when I'm refreshing like clockwork it seems like I get feared and stunned.

Drop julianos and get kagernac, it offers both great dps, recovery and survivability with the max health bonus. Willpower jewellery is a must sorry :( and I would drop destro on a templar, weaving with a staff on a templar isn't that good especially since you'd want to utilise puncturing sweeps and a dual wield/sword and shield offers much more.

If you are running out of stam too fast use your cp to adjust to this, although theres often a meta on where you allocate your points, its good to put points in areas where you feel you lack in, i have enough recovery on my templar for magic so instead of going 100/100 in arcanist i put around 26 i think into the dodge roll/break free cost reduction.

You can tell someones immune to cc if there are swirling lines on the bottom of a characters feet. Tri food is a must tbh for magic builds.

I'll link you a great guide for magic templars, although he hasn't updated it for Dark Brotherhood it is excellent.

Well here's some battles I've had with nightblades... Most arn't nearly as good as the ones in my clips. So maybe you can draw something from it and add to your strategies.

Thanks Joe. I watched the Stamina one at Lunch break. I'd like to order one of those RPGs you hit him with at the end lol Those pets are pretty nice too with helping to keep him located when he uncloaks.

I don't play templar in pvp but with NBs you should keep the pressure on them, and the easiest way to do this is by weaving light/heavy attacks between every skill. Eventually they will feel the need to cloak out of your assault, then you pop a detect potion and speed buff yourself if you can so you can follow the NB as they run away. Often a NB who can't cloak will panic and then you have basically won the fight. Templars seem to be the class that struggle with NBs the most and it might be the lack of mobility. As a sorc I can streak after a NB with my detect pot active and this can be very effective.

Just going out to pick some flowers this morning(cuz u know, I'm DC and that is what we do)...and ran into a few people that wanted me dead  , but the NB I encounter here represents about the average skill level I'd say.

In a pack he'd prolly be dangerous. but out and about in a natural encounter he's nothing.
As for the stam dk, I've yet to lose too a puke knight yet
But he's actually on the upper end of the spectrum of skill I think. Or atleast he actually thinks and tries to LOS me.

Oh and I was azura at the time so if you looking at me going...why are your stats/damage so low. it's the build, and it's the lack of CP. On haderous where I usually am to be found it's a different story, but I'm waiting for the IC zergs to settle down.

Dealing with NBs on a Templar is extremely hard.
Firstly, you want Radiant Magelight. Second, whenever you get jumped, get Channelled Focus and Purifying Ritual down ASAP for defence and heals. Thirdly, put Blazing Spear on and catch the NB mid-burst with the CC and try to land some sweeps. If your burst is half decent you can just Jesus Beam them and they're done.

Rinse and repeat. If you are getting killed too fast, try using heavier armour or changing your champion point distribution (Resistant, Hardy).

Also, change your armour sets to 5pc Kagrenac and 4pc Magnus with 3 Willpower jewellery and get some purple Magicka glyphs.

I'm fairly new to PvPing on my templar, and nightblades are giving me the most trouble, followed by other templars. So I sympathize. I do best when I am able to apply strong, sustained pressure. My templar definitely has trouble sniffing them out when they cloak and run.

You definitely need more stamina, however you get it. I'm running 17k and it's a lifesaver to be able to break free when I need to. Willpower robust jewelry is much cheaper than the arcane jewelry and can be a stop-gap measure while you work toward your final (ha!) build.

Find a group to run with regularly at least until you get comfortable. Not only can you help cover each others' weak spots, but can be a source of much-needed info right when you need it. What did he just do? What ability was that? What could I have done to survive?

For the willpower jewelry, the prices are very low on the robust traits. Now if that's your only way of getting a bit of stamina (no attribute points and armor enchants put towards stam) well, even it's not optimised compared to the very expensive Willpower jewelry that have the proper arcane (magicka) trait, wouldn't you still be much better off with that, than with random jewelry...?

On PC EU for example you can easily find the willpower jewelry with robust for 500 to 900 gold each in Carglorn guild stores.
