I recently created a Stamplar and he is around level 25 and I was just curious. For PvP, which 2H weapon (greatsword, mace or axe) gives the most DPS?

Personally, I think it will foremost depend on what you want to do, and more specifically on what kind of color weapon you've got/planning to make..

It's a pretty loaded question, as a greatsword swings at a slower rate of attack than say, a sword or a mace. And if you're going for DPS, without knowing too adequately what kind of dps stats a greatsword has (I prefer to dual-weild daggers since higher speeds than longsword with no real difference in damage between the Longsword, with a super-high stamina, and give them Precise traits to outshine damage, since I work with my Nightblade to bonus-up on that Weapons Critical).

https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/163472/which-2h-weapon-is-best-dps-tests-inside This guy had a similar question and did some of his own tests, so that might helpful to you if you're wanting to look at various blade-builds.

It looks like a double-sided coin, depending on your specific build, preference, and in the long-run what enchantments and traits you put on your weapon of choice, and then with what Skills you choose to unlock, which will in the long-run really get you to the peak optimization you're looking for.

    Hope this helps some.

Many PVPers prefer Mauls to deal with high armor targets. I think the rational is, if they aren't tanky they will die super fast anyway, in which case you don't need the small DPS boost that comes with a 2H sword. If they are tanky, Maul helps to make sure you can't still hit them for decent damage.

2H Axes were never used really because you couldn't apply bleed effects on shields, which are rampant in Cyrodiil. But more recently, bleeds now damage shields so, it's a bit more viable. Problem is, the proc chance for the bleed is low. Someone fact check me, I heard 16%? (or 60% I can't remember :D)

So really, it depends on your targets armor. If high armor, Maul does most DPS. If low armor, it probably depends on how much weapon damage you have, and how much you depend on DoT effects. As a Stamplar you will eventually want to buff your DoT with Thaumaturge, so... Either one is viable, imo.

I agree it's all upto preference.
In pvp last patch the 2h axe had a 100% proc rate... Not any longer (about 16%ish IMO that's to low for me), so it is upto preference.

As other guy said, mauls or sword is a good choice. I prefer maul as that 20% armour pen is great and I feel I hit harder with mauls in pvp over swords.

Personally, I leave all my weapon choosing to RNGesus.

I actually prefer my axe over maul or sword. If you weave lightattacks you'll proc the bleeding anyway.
And the bleeding is actually quite the strong dot. Helps a lot keeping pressure up.
But I guess it's simply personal preference.

Can you confirm if the proc chance is 16%? And if the bleed scales off of Thaumaturge?
