Buffasaurus: A Guide to Healing as a Dragon Knight

Hello! My name is Quelhallow.

Here is my Dragon Knight build. It is a lot of fun and is designed for group play. It's meant for the casual gamer who wants to heal as a dragon knight prior to hitting vr16 and ending all social life as we know it. No number crunching, time-consuming, data-infested spreadsheets will be given to you.

Alliance: Aldmeri Dominion, but of course
Race: High Elf
Mundus: Ritual
Sandwich: Check

Gear: 5x Eye of the Mara (divines), 3x Julianos (divines), 3x Willpower or 3x ETC jewelry! (I believe in poor-people's builds!)
Optional Gear: 5x Redistributor (super fun, o those random bolts with which you will mystify your peers), 5x Seducers (another magicka-efficient set), 5x Kagrenac's Hope (for when your face needs a little palming)
Glyphs: Health or Tri-Stat
Stats: All Magicka
Champ Points:
  1. The Tower (Magician) & The Lover (Arcanist)
  2. The Lord (Bastion & Quick Recovery)
  3. The Apprentice (Blessed & Elfborn)

Bar 1: Restoration Staff! (Crushing Enchant + Precise)
  1. Slot 1: Rapid Regeneration
  2. Slot 2: Healing Ward
  3. Slot 3: Igneous Shield
  4. Slot 4: Combat Prayer
  5. Slot 5: Illustrious Healing
  6. Ultimate: Magma Shell

Bar 2: Restoration Staff! (Crushing Enchant + Precise)
  1. Slot 1: Igneous Weapons
  2. Slot 2: Harness Magicka
  3. Slot 3: Cinder Storm
  4. Slot 4: Burning Talons
  5. Slot 5: Shattering Rocks
  6. Ultimate: Magma Shell

Here's the skinny: You are the Buffasaurus. You are the crowd-control king! Keep cinder storm down between your tank and ranged dps, interrupt with shattering rocks (and oh those stamina dps will love you for giving all those mobs the off-balanced effect), keep up the igneous weapons buff every 30 seconds, and run around all willy nilly stomping the ground with those burning talons. Endless synergies! Endless buffs! The best healing combo: keep igneous shield buff going (as it provides major mending), throw down combat prayer and sprinkle illustrious healing here and there. Healing ward is your friend, and a polite way to say "hey, stupid, don't stand in that red circle." Rapid regeneration keeps people topped off all of the time. For those hairy times, casting four or five illustrious healing spells (with major mending) really brightens the day. When you get bored, which is rare, or need a touch of magicka because you don't want to make your even stack of magicka potions an odd number, heavy attack with your staff for the heal and magicka return benefit, as well as the better chance to apply the crushing effect (armor reduction).

When things get rough, as in, your entire team just got one-shot by that silly little beetle in Volenfell, just hit Magma shell and rez two people before it ends, while taking practically no damage at all! I also love to dodge-roll into a big group of mobs, hit talons a few times, hit shattering rocks a few times more, hit magma shell for my tank who is probably looking at me in slow motion saying "what... the..." and sashay around my rooted enemies, throwing down illustrious healing and combat prayer in my wake. It is a very mobile build.

It's at 1800 unbuffed. Remember, you get a 70% return on your ultimate's cost when you use it. I also use 3x magicka reduction enchantments on my jewelry. You're also getting an additional 12% reduction in restoration staff skills from the Eyes of Mara set. So spells aren't really that costly to use!
