So whats the deal with arena pvp?

I've recently started playing around in imperial city and every other zone seemed dead except the arena district. I went to exchange some trophies but wound up fighting groups for about an hour or so best pvp I've participated in hands down. Is their like some kind of objective or something valuable in the arena?
