Does "Might of the Guild" passive affect next spell cast or next spell hitting target?

✭The buff disappears the moment you use an applicable ability regardless of whether or not it hits anything.

catalyst10e✭✭✭✭I believe it's spell hitting target, because it can be wasted on Volcanic rune, tossing the rune out enables might of the guild and if someone steps on it, the passive kicks in."Why settle for just stabbing your foes when you can roast them alive in a gout of arcane fire?"

well technically Xeven is more accurate, the next ability used will use the passive, even if it were to miss from say, a dodge roll. In the case of volcanic rune, the act of stepping on the rune counts as your next "used" ability."Why settle for just stabbing your foes when you can roast them alive in a gout of arcane fire?"
