Seriously how could they add any new skill lines when the ones that are in game are still broken?

That was pretty much exactly what he said. Yes they want to add skill lines in the future, but they want to get what we already have balanced and such first.

there will NEVER be balance in this game when the DEVs do not play their game.

    agreed.

And they basically won't - simply because for them the game is WORK, and in their spare time they want to get away from WORK. So why the heck should they play it in their spare time?

Good games are made with passion

First off I like the Ask Us anything and ESO live - its a hell of a lot more than a lot of other MMO's I have played have ever done and it's nice to see them. However

    1) While I like the lore of ESO - I don't like the questions being done in ask us anything. Maybe they could have a lore section for questions as well. The lore questions tend to be for a very small section of people and not the wider player base. Personal I like lore but would like more on Argonian's and don't care about mangy cat people :)

    2) I find that there are major concerns over PvP ability spamming, imbalance in racial abilities, lack of solo end game content ect ect that never get touched. I would think that the actual state of the game should get more air time.

    3) While I would rather have some news than no news the line no ETA on everything is a bit disappointing. Couldn't we hear about some things we are actually going to see soon even if they are not major.

this all the way, to say something just to speak doesn't work, it causes confusion and just raises more questions.

I agree. But I mostly agree with your first point, which is what I want to stress: from my experience a lot of issues in MMOs take a long time to fix, devs are generally not very talkative on what's going on behind the scenes and won't give ETAs because in long development processes, if issues come up, the delay might be weeks/months. A lot of the issues and projects people are talking about, seem to involve a limited resource of ZOS: software engineers. Animators, designers, writers etc. can't do the engineers' job, and the engineer can't fix everything at the same time.

All in all I appreciate ZOS' honesty. They're secretive, and some issues take a very, frustratingly long time to be fixed, but over time I've learned that's normal. GW2's WvW is still in a very poor shape 3,5 years after its launch, it took them years to add 'basic' PvP features such as spectator mode, leagues, proper rewards and ranking, and GW2 is arguably the largest Western MMO besides WoW. It's gonna be the same for Black Desert, Camelot Unchained, Crow's thing whatever it's called. They'll have issues, it'll take time to fix. Being rude ain't gonna speed things up, nor will reminding them every 5 seconds of issues they already know. I was disappointed by ESO Live, but found Twitch chat very inappropriate - and as a fan of professional Dota 2 I've seen a lot of bad Twitch chat.

Don't like what you see? Think of what Gandalf told Frodo in Moria: 'All we have to decide is what to do with the time given to us.' Thinking of that, I'm gonna log off the forums. Cheers.

    Let's see.

City/district capture. New siege changes. No CP campaign. 64 bit client which should help the server stress to reduce. Likely skill updates. Yeah, nothing for PVP in the first two DLC of the year (/sarcasm).

You're very fortunate. Not everyone has a job doing something they enjoy.

its not about being fortunate, its about passion. if you don't love it, you've got no business doing it. literally

I spent 30+ years doing a job I didn't love. But it offered security, it paid well and it let me retire in my early '50s. Now I am able to pursue things I do love, but which don't usually pay well (such as playing video games, for instance).

So there were some aspects of your job that you loved.

Well, strictly speaking, aside from city/district capture, nothing in your list counts as "new content" or "new mechanics". It's all fix and balancing.

Players want to be motivated, dont let them wait for Months or Years. What do you mean happens, if some new MMORPGs will start outthere?

I have waited for Months to get an detailed Answer for the Racechange, for an Example. The best Answer i get was "2016", that is very frustrating. I am a Subscriber from the Start of the Game and now i look around for other Games too. Good Work, well done.

To me they are doing extremely well.
They kept you interested in the game for 2 years - it is an outstanding result.

Of course ZOS does a lot of mistakes here and there, but who doesn't?
And why do you need the racial change feature that badly....is it because of the racial passives? Because if the answer is yes then the racial change is the wrong solution for it.

    Hey folks,

Just wanted to address some of the frustration about lack of details and new information being expressed in this thread. We've made a decision to tell you as much as we're able, as early as possible, and earlier than we have in the past. That means sometimes we can only tell you "We're working on X" without an ETA or additional details. This is especially true when we're talking about features we're working on that aren’t on the immediate horizon.

We understand you guys want dates on everything in the Year Ahead Article, and we’ll be working to keep you updated on these as soon as we’re ready and confident to share those dates. We will share with you full details and dates for everything coming to ESO in the next year, but it won’t come all in one shot, and definitely not this early in the year.

I appreciate a good story like anyone else who loves humanities, however I think you, ZOS is taking the "be the hero" story type a bit too far so much as you focus on Storyline > PvE > PvP. (to me the storyline and pve are the same thing). However, ZOS you seem either apathetically or perhaps maybe not on purpose, put the storyline before everything else.

You all need to remind yourselves that you took one of the biggest titles in the industry and put it online. Bethesda needs to worry about single player content with the continuation of the single player games Arena through Skyrim (now Skyrim II). When you put something on the online market, it needs to come with end game, which this game has little semblance of end game compared to others in the market today.

Grinding is not an acceptable substitute for lack of end-game in fact it is the answer of a team who lacks ingenuity and great ideas, nor am I an Easterner and I completely reject the Eastern game-style because I do not have the time to do so plus most of their games are just.. grindy. Spinning the hamster wheel will always happen in some form of another, but as long as you produce meaningful top tier dungeons and PvP experiences everything will be good. However, you have failed to do so, in order to produce the best story line. There is nothing wrong with a land rich with lore and immersion, but not when you place a major title like Elder Scrolls onto the online market.

I feel like your priorities are misplaced, and I would not be so ruthless in my criticisms if I were not absolutely loving of the Elder Scrolls franchise like many others. End-game will keep this game going, meaningful and immersive dungeons are important, meaningful PvP climate, terrain, and the environment that supports no two of the same fight are important for the online crowd. While the game is visually stunning I am not one who thinks beauty should ever surpass functionality and thus I will appreciate less the detail of your work if I cannot perform basic functions because the game cannot handle itself. I suspect that my notion and opinions hold true for many others.

End-game Zenimax, memories first, rewards second, story third. I want to remember the time I went into the dungeon and I survive by the petals of the flower clip-thingy in my Dark Elfs hair. I want to remember the time that I bat-det-sap cheesed a whole zerg who were spin-to-win-bat-det-uppercut-bubblestack-cheesing and made them super mad, nothing is funnier than playing one up in PvP to me.

Now I am not without the knowledge to know that achieving that is no easy task, I am aware and supportive of an appropriate time lapse to get the job done, however, I do question how much time do you need? I am a man of the trades myself and I always understand sometimes time is needed to get the job done right, however I am very aware that fact that milking time is a business practice some will use to charge their clientele the extra buck. When I need to fix something and I haven't done it before, I openly admit "I haven't done this" or "I haven't worked on these".

You though ZOS, have taken a lot of time, almost enough time that you may need to consider specialists in your fields for the exact problem in which you cannot solves be it whatever reason. You can only take so much time before peoples money and effort in this title or any other starts to feel squandered. No one pays to play this game to just log in, regardless of what ever digital contract you have signed. I as a man of the trades hold you to the same standards of the trades as any other business, digital crafting is still a trade.

You maybe the developers, but do not forget that it is not we built it, so like it or leave it. The exodus has already started, people will leave if they do not like it and you will be without a reasonable base to support your game, remember something, this isn't just a game, like I said before it is one of the biggest titles in the industry.

World of Warcraft took two years to get bug free, SWTOR with time turned their game around, so with time I do have confidence you will get it done, but do it better, because Elder Scrolls. Set the bar and the standard in the gaming industry then exceed it each time. You are coming up on the mark on which ESO gets turned around or it goes down the tubes.

Let's not forget that the folks who invented free to play are not producing anymore good games, Turbine is hanging on by a thread, so consider your business strategy. Asherons Call was a stellar, top notch game, with constant quality updates for 15 years straight, the day they strayed from that path everything plummeted. Quality makes the most money, not a foolish cash shop.

Somethings though are downright irritating, I do not like basic psychological marketing techniques used on me, anyone who has an education should would generate, dodging any direct question just pisses me and anyone who has half a brain off. If you do not have an answer to something, find one. Find your old school spine and get it done. If you cannot promise something or you cannot deliver on something you mention, just dont even promise it, but be direct and something giving indirect responses, its annoying and rude.

My example here is the one thing that has me annoyed me all week and I am looking at you Matt Firor, don't say you're going to keep PvP and PvE separate AFTER you released a DLC that the majority of players do not like and then realize you failed, it's called covering your ass. No one wants to see another half-baked DLC which it is apparently obvious that no amount ingenuity went into it to enrich the PvP isolated zone of Cyrodiil.

If you are going to separate the two, keep them separate; fine. But then go back and make the failure a success, all of you.

I am will continue to pound you relentlessly with criticisms, most of you are from the UO, SB, DAoC, and AC era, and you would do best to 'member it well.

So did you make your customers/ product suffer because you didn't enjoy it? And If it's about security that's another thing they're failing at.

    No, not at all.

Look, my point was that I think you are fortunate that you can make a living doing something that you love and for which you have passion. Most people I know don't love their jobs, but they make the best of them. However, I stand corrected. You're not fortunate at all. You're very unfortunate. How terrible for you. Whatever.

i hope you do realize once all the streamers quit say goodbye to your money and your game because they are the only people keeping it alive you dont see any pve players bringing 500+ views to your game dont you see this?

I will just react to this point. This is a misconception a LOT of poeple have. PVP STREAMERS are the most visible part of the community. Yet they are FAR from being the majority.
The majority of players play the game, probably relatively casually, they don't come on forum and you have no idea they do exist.

This is why YOU have the impression the game is dying, while it's actually doing well. The PVP part of the game is probably going bad. I'm not denying that. But I don't think it would affect ESO globaly as much as you would like to believe it.

im saying they advertise the game best im not saying pve sucks because i did alot of pve im just saying why is it that every dlc has to be pvp focused thn when a pvp player ask for just one go damn small scale dlc all the pvers are lke ah no forget that then we miss out well... we are the ones waiting over 2 years for nothing then just to hear "were working on it"just for us to wait even longer for the same old thing i have no problem with pve at all im just saying they dont advertise the game as much we are just asking for on dlc that one dlc will last us pvpers along time we only ask for one dlc no more and the game has lost many many players just goin into zones like rawl, elden root, wayrest ectall them places are pretty much dead compare to how it was back then :( PS.elloa i like you content ;)

Because if the answer is yes then the racial change is the wrong solution for it.

Maybe, but when ZOS are totally inept at balancing racial passives, at this moment in time, it's the right solution.
