Looking for tips for Successful Solo/Duo Stam DragonKnight play

Been playing a Stamina DragonKnight solo/duo (with my wife who is a NB) for the past couple of weeks and am having a really difficult time with it. I'm used to playing a NightBlade and being able to pick my battles very carefully. On this DK I am constantly being "zerged" by larger groups in the open battlefield because I can't seem to find a way choose which fights I want to take, and which ones I want to run from. As soon as a single member of the zerg sees me, they chase me down, I turn and fight, their friends show up, it's all over.

What do you other Stam DK's do for survivability and picking battles where the odds aren't 1:5+? Rapids? Bow passive? Quick Cloak? I'm even considering going Vampire so I can actually move around in stealth...?

What race are you? You could go tank or go for high health recovery.

Stay near areas where you can kite well - mainly big rock formations (or the outer wall at keeps, especially the corner towers).

Being a vampire will help with regen, invisibats and damage mitigation in low health, plus being able to sneak fast (but that mostly only helps *before* engaging an enemy... it's extremely difficult to be able to enter stealth during combat). Sometimes being vampire will also get you killed due to camo hunter procs or dawnbreaker.

Speed potion will help sometimes, when you can use it without need the heal from a potion. Kite around those rock formations using speed and dodge roll (+invisibats). Sometimes you will be able to escape even a zerg if you're fast enough and can take an invisibility potion (invisibility + speed) behind a corner as you're escaping. The good thing about a speed potion is that its effect stays on you for a long time.

And, lure the single enemy / small group of enemies away from the main routes of travel between keeps so that there's less of a chance people will spot you having a fight.

Being able to kite is very important. If you go with a tank build AND are soloing, it's quite predictable what will happen - you will die in the end without having killed any enemy. High health recovery definitely won't save you either. High stamina regen, high magicka regen (for wings, igneous, possibly coagulating blood) help you survive. But then there's the decision, how much to invest in regen and healing, vs damage.

If you duo with someone who can do good to great damage to enemies and who is able to kite, and burst enemies down, then you can play more of a tanky role of course, since their damage combined with your moderate damage should be able to burst enemies one by one. You can tank (well, have to, tank) the enemies when your partner goes invisible / out of reach, while you wait for the partner to return.

I think I'm going to craft some of those speed/invis pots, add a couple pieces of heavy armor, and steer clear of open areas. Thanks for all the recommendations! Right now I don't have vigor so that is sort of my light at the end of the tunnel. Hoping that will help a lot as I'm currently using Dragon Blood which saps my magicka away from wings/igneous.

@jpeltor I'm a Stam DK using 5 medium 2 heavy Hunding/nightmother/med shoulder kena (will get helm soon). I run max health max stam blue food.

When I see multiple targets (more than 4-5) I will flee using my bow passive archer something after throwing razor caltraps at them. This will stop the zerg from moving fast while applying 70% move debuff after 30%. This provides me a lot of time to continue hiding till I reach a line of sight closer (a rock or something blocking my vision)

I'm a Solo DK in PvP XB1 NA server and most of my DC allies know me as well as my enemies >:)

Very nice, this seems like it would work really well! Currently I'm running S&B/2H 5 hunding, 4 night's silence (still working on a few traits for morkuldin) with the max health, stam recovery orsinium food. Based on your suggestion I think I'll grind bow to 50 and try out a bow/2H build.

I had a lot of success last night using the speed/invis pots. Saved me 3 or 4 times in a couple hours. Added 2 pieces of heavy and felt a bit more tanky as well. Thanks for the recommendations @RoamingRiverElk @AverageJo3Gam3r @MaxwellCrystal all very helpful!
