And the damage is insane. Fights pre-damage reduction must not have lasted long at all. Also why are most of sorc builds people are running with so similar are pets bad in vet pvp?

There was a damage reduction, but you have to remember since then, they've added new sets, monster drops and accessories to greatly increase your weapon/spell damage.
You won't find many togglemancer/pokemon builds in the open plains of Cyrodiil, but in the confined spaces of IC it's pretty popular, making it harder to target the sorc properly and they can get some pretty nasty damage with all that extra magicka.

Builds are similar because ZOS killed diversity. We are forced to stack a single stat and go heavy defense or heavy damage. The build diversity and play styles we had at launch no longer exists.

I see 1 pet flying around every now-and-then, but never consistently. it's too open, and the pets don't hide when you go into stealth. The slot the pets take up would be better suited for radient magelight, or surge, or even bound aegis. If you just got to the vet PVP, Welcome!

I noticed that a bit too. Most builds i go up against are stacked for damage. I used to run a 5h 2l sorc tank build but had to stop since nbs go through me like butter might aswell go all light.

You have to be an exceptional player to make pets work for you. I've only fought one sorc who was every any good that used them. Personally, I've never put a point into either skill as I rolled a Sorc not a Warlock.

Best advice is to max Bastion and max your Magicka and pray you don't get 2-3 stamina players on you at once.

For numerous reasons, only a few magicka builds right now are competitive. One of them being the magicka sorc build you mentioned seeing. Lots of shield stacking and streaking around. (The other competitive one is magicka nightblade based around constant Dark Cloak.)

You cant avoid damage when you cant see an enemy and they hit you from stealth. 1 shotting should not even be possible in this game, and ZoS needs to get their act together and make it so you cannot stack different damage buffs.

Unless vampire, you really cant get instakilled in ESO, even as a light armor user. You dont even need extra health, shields or that Radiant Pukelight to survive one ganker, only to NOT play vampire. If you're getting instakilled or even oneshot as one of the living, you're not using a PvP build or slowest reactions in Tamriel.

But ofc it suck how they nerfed dmg, healing, shields, dodge and block blanket style. Than went along and hardcore buffed dmg and defensive abilities scaling of stamina/magicka by introducing more powerful gear. The dmg nerf is also easier to overcome with this limited amount of CP, compare to defence.

This creates imbalance, because dodge, block and defensive skills scaling health, are just as nerfed as ever, while people starting to hit like trucks again. Burst rules and build diversity is completely dead.

Ok, so what you will do now is, everytime you are riding around in the great world of cyrodiil is, reapplying your hardened ward every 20second. So you have always a shield up on your sorc. Then you are GANKPROOF.

Also you may want to slot defensive rune it's great for gankers, of course if there hitting you for that amount theres nothing you can do, but for 72 seconds if someone hits you they'll get a stun which gives you time to react.

Sorc pets suck. I wanted to use them but no one even cares about them, they don't even soak up much damage because all the ranged people kill them because they get into range before the players so just die as a warm up to give the enemy AP.

I suspect the main issue with damage is lag (hope its lag and not something else) I often find that I go from full health to zero health in a second but when I look at the death recap its impossible because I have been told the bow attack has a 1 second charge time so must be the system is not registering the damage till I am dead.

If it helps, I've been seeing some nice results from using Defensive rune. Aside from radiant magelight assisting with not getting ganked, the defensive rune has also been ensuring they only get the one shot on me, which gives me time to either streak some distance or ward up.
