Extremely slow Orsinium patch download speed - XBOX NA

My update has been going for over 5 hours now and has only got to 73%.

It is constantly stopping and then resuming for no apparent reason.

Nothing else is consuming my internet bandwidth and XBOX reports all services available; NAT Open. My internet connection isn't great but XBOX says it is connected at 2.14 Mbps down, 0.42 Mbps up, 3% packet loss and 274 ms latency.

Why is this so slow and what can be done to improve it as the 9GB patch should have been done by now based on connection speed.

I've raised a support ticket for this via help.elderscrollsonline.com but rather unhelpfully got an auto response saying contact MS XBOX support.

I've already gone through MS XBOX support (clearly stated in the ticket) and exhausted all options with them in terms of XBOX.

MS support were very clear and specific that the issue is within the control of Zenimax as the content is hosted on their server; it is not an XBOX issue.

The patch has still not downloaded, only 91% complete

It could be because a lot of people are downloading it. It could also be your ISP having issues or limiting you do to having reached your monthly internet data cap. Another could be the Microsoft servers are overwhelmed, similar to the stalling I get with preloading preorders. It also could be the "New Xbox Experience" system update as I've heard that could be a cause. I have a couple bugs with it as well, but not sure about slow/stalling downloads as my internets slower than yours at 1.12MB's. The only stalling I get is while using the Xbox web browser while I'm downloading the new AC Syndicate DLC released today. I'm currently downloading the new patch/Orsinium DLC for ESOTU and it's going well so far as I'm typing this. Try power cycling your console and restarting your router/modem. If you decide to try that I recommend pausing it to make sure it doesn't accidently restart the update.

Definitely haven't hit any cap with my ISP and no limits on my data cap.

MS have said in the support call in relation to this issue it is not any MS server nor is it their infrastructure. They specifically stated that it is a ZOS server that is hosting the content so it is their infrastructure.

I have had no issues with the NXOE either during the preview or since going live. I've had no issue with downloading any other update for other games.

I've exhausted the MS list of things to do for slow downloads and this includes power cycling the XBOX. I've reset my router and I've even tried switching to a different router.

If anything, all this troubleshooting has done is slow the download further.

    Finally crept up to 94%

It took me from around 10:30am EST to 1:30 EST to get past 30% or so with an 100 Mbs connection.
No idea why it's so slow but I don't believe it's traffic related. As its now 10:35pm EST and still slow for you

I really have no idea why it is so bad.

The download was started at about 07:30 AEST this morning and it is now 14:41 AEST and it has decided to stop at 97%.

Perhaps it's location with ZOS giving priority to local traffic over international traffic.

Unlikely to find out, just extremely frustrated at being passed back to MS by ZOS despite exhausting support with MS and clearly stating this. On top of that, MS clearly state it is a ZOS hosted file so not an MS issue.

Just noticed I typed that the download started at 07:30 AEST. This is incorrect as it actually started at 07:00 AEST.

Regardless, it is now 15:00 and the download still refuses to finish.

Given that the XBOX reports a good connection speed (for my config) and the fact that I can download content on another computer without seeing any speed limitations I would have to disagree. I did everything to rule out internet issues and isolated it to only being the XBOX suffering a slow download of the patch.

As before, nothing else is running on the network to consume any bandwidth as I tried to get the download to complete.

Speedtests throughout the day have shown between 2.5 - 3.5 Mbps available speed. Not brilliant but not something that should result in 7+ hours to download 9GB.

    +1

It took me less about 30 minutes to download the update last night on my hardwired XB1 around 7.30p est.

Really it is your internet. 2.14Mbps is a very slow connection
