It was rough, but I did it on my V1 Hybrid NB tank!

    Stats

    cczCQ5w.jpg

5PC Akaviri Dragonguard, 5 Piece Spectre's Eye, 2 PC Jewelry Magicka Furnace. All jewelry equipped with potion reduction cooldown (which to be honest, made the difference during the last fight). 132 CPs. V1 purple food active.

All Spectre's Eye gear is well fitted as I value movement over raw output.

Rotation for the first 8 rounds was the same and a cake walk, didn't die until final boss. Pierce Armor, Debilitate, Swallow Soul, Refreshing Path, Leeching Strikes.

Bar 2, dual wield was summon shade, blood craze, annulment, deadly cloak and leeching strikes.

After numerous failures in stage 9, round 5, I eventually went back to the above S&B as I was having issues killing the bone colossi summoners quickly enough. Shield Charge was too costly on stamina for too little benefit. Lotus Fan was actually really good, but I'd often find myself way out of position to go get the gold ghost.

Anyways, the performance was solid for a V1 NB tank.

I made it through normal MA on a V1 tank, you aren't anything special. Normal MA is awesome for a tank, fun fights and really pushes your sustainability chops since you don't have the DPS to ignore it. Please go away.

A DPS build will do a lot of damage, however they will struggle to stay alive.
A Tank build will have a lot of survivability, but will take longer to slay their foes.
A Healer build will be able to sustain themselves but, like Tanks, will struggle a bit with heavy damage.

All 3 builds are capable in their own way. For what they lack there are those power-ups to rely on. If you wish to compete with the Leaderboards simply perfect your own build or switch builds...

I want to punch bosses. WHY MUST THE GAME LIMIT ME SO!

how many challenges are there? So far I did the first with little issue. I am a light armor wearing templar with a mix of dps and heals and didnt do too bad. I think this is a great idea. Its good there are many different styles of content in the game, and if you can't handle something, then either practice til you get good at it, play around with builds, or simply go to something else in the game. Because you don't enjoy it or are having a difficult time shouldn't mean other people get to miss out on this in future content. A variety is a spice of life.

So the fact that they thought its okay to release solo content on a DLC on an MMO is fine?
Since MMO has never meant "must always group" yes, obviously it is.

I don't know why so many people have such trouble with this concept, but it's pretty simple:

Different people enjoy different things in games like this. Not everyone has to like the same thing. Not every piece of content has to cater directly to what you personally want. A good game will include something for each segment of the player base.

    ^^^^^^^^^

Yeah, and even if you do regularly enjoy group content, sometimes you're awake at 7am on a Saturday for some absurd reason and who you usually see isn't. Or maybe your PMS'ing that day and just don't wanna deadl with people. Lol Solo content has its place.

In LOTRO they have things called a Skirmish. You have a choice of doing them solo, duo, small group and large group. Add that feature to the Arena and i'm sure EVERYONE will be happy because it covers all ground. Just a thought. And you can also adjust the difficulty to normal or heroic mode for all of them. You can do them at any level and get great XP if still leveling and they drop items and goods that can be used to purchase goodies too. Ok, rambling now. But yeah, add options for the group size then whether you wish to solo them, duo them, small group them or large group them, players get the choice.

It defeats the purpose of roles. No healer or tank will be able to complete vet maelstrom arena. Only DPS builds are able to complete it. You literally have to relocate all your champion points and change your gear, attributes, etc... to be able to complete it. This should not be the case in a game that sells itself as "PLAY THE WAY YOU WANT". Right....

Good tanks and healers both dish out considerable dps respectively... And please don't tell me you have only that one set of armor you're wearing....

For normal, not that many. The only one I could say I had a tiny bit of trouble figuring out was the Argonian Behemoth. Then I realized it was literally a repeat of one of the fights from ARX Corinium and beat it.

Everyone deep breath. And wait a few weeks for people like deltia to come up with a comprehensive guide for each class. When that happens everyone and their mothers and grandmothers will finish maelstrom arena. Chill brahs.

You can farm the normal arena. Just because they made a veteran arena doesnt mean you have to do it.
I have done normal, and its is so easy. As a glass cannon DD you dont even take dmg and my steel tornado oneshotts adds from full HP. Even as a tank you shouldnt have problem killing stuff.

What would a Solo Arena for a tank look like? Survive an onslaught of 10 mobs for 30 seconds? That would be interesting. How about a healer arena? Keep these random NPCs alive for 30 seconds?

Do we really want this? Would it be fun?

No because it wouldn't be a fair even ground. The maelstrom arena is fair ground. Zenimax wouldn't make a dlc arena like that. You dont want to seperate the players like that. It wouldnt be called an mmo if they did that.

And there is fair ground as is? Nope.

Yes there is fair ground in Maelstrom arena. Do you know how the leaderboards work? I play on console and even I know how the leaderboards work. "Each class has their own leaderboard you get points based off of your classes specific talents" For tanks its damage mitigation, for sorcs its total damage done and so on. Maelstrom arena has the trial symbol on it for a reason ya know. Its not made to be played by the casual player. They can try but most times they can't. There are some special cases but mostly casual players avoid this kind of content. They have alot more to do in orsinium than whine about not being able to do maelstrom. The maelstrom arena is like dragonstar arena for solo players. Its not getting a nerf anytime soon. So dont ask for it.
Hm. Dude what are you talking About?

You Talk about class and role and Mix them up...
You Know that you can actually Make a sorc Tank?
Magicka dks have better dps than nbs...
Seems like you dont Know how leaderboard works

The ideal solo arena would have a large pool of opponents that spawn randomly. Then the only way you can prepare for it is to have a balance of resources instead of relying heavily on one type.

There are no "roles" in solo play. The ideal solo player can dish and defend about equally while having a few heals as backup. Which makes things interesting when you get an opponent that challenges what you're capable of handling on your own.

Is that a bad word these days? Challenge?

craglorn is Group content not SOLO content. I have 115 cp and I still can't complete some craglorn bosses without at least 2 other players. Those bosses were not meant to be soloed.

Someone ;) solo'd them all with 0 CP.

My main sucks in groups. I built them for soloing and PvP. I can do ok in groups, but experienced vets scoff at my damage output. This ONE arena in the game is perfectly-suited to my build. Every other single bit of hard vet PvE content is not suited for my build.

Should I be asking ZOS to never make another group dungeon since I can't beat them playing as I want? Of course not. It was my choice to be a versatile and self-sufficient build at the expense of top-tier DPS or tanking ability. As has been said, "play as you want" means the options to play how you want. It doesn't mean every bit of content has to be catered to how you want to play.

Edit: Maelstrom is great fun. Thanks, ZOS :)

To be fair you will be able to complete them, just not effectively. Unless you were foolish enough to only spend points in abilities for group play. At which point I must ask you, how did you get to end game content?

Eitherway don't expect to be on the top of the charts with that kind of build.

    Upper Craglorn too?

Started over when I switched to consol and Craglorn seems much easier than it was. I can currently take out the overland bosses and groups in lower easily, so the delves should be doable for me. Just want to finish off Gold before I start Craglorn.
