VR 16 Gear

So FINALLY got to VR16 earlier today was going to try the redistributor set I had 60 rubedite ingots in the bank figured that would get me a good way to a 5 piece set. I look and see that it takes 150 ingots for one piece of armor, who thought that one up? I get the only thing to do once you hit VR16 is to grind/farm but come on you have set a pattern for the last 64 levels then on the 65th you outlandishly raise the material requirements? I honestly don't really like the new sets they are niche or really don't fit my build. Take Phoenix seems to have a cool 5 piece effect but the passives on the 2,3, and 4 aren't comparative to what the armor sets you have set to VR14 are. Ok no problem have to make a decision give this to get that but with the Phoenix set I would literally have to change my build stats to make it even close to feasible. Since it is light armor I lost a ton of resistances when I equipped it, my choices are too use something like immovable that quickly kills my stamina as it is magic focused. Or something like annulment that has a set designed to directly counter it. Of course this isn't even the VR16 set as you have to gamble a ridiculous amount of TV stones at the chance you will get a set that interests you. It is no wonder people play IC just long enough to gear up then leave you have pretty much made a game killing grind in that zone.
I am looking forward to Orsinium but sorry that I wasted my crowns on Imperial City, I thought you had a really good concept for it but you blew it. I really see nothing to redeem that DLC in its current state.

VR16 gear is expensive so you actually have to work for your gear and take time to get it rather than asking a crafter, mailing 1 days worth of mats and getting end game gear.

So by that I am guessing you are going under the hey welcome to end game grind theory. I agree it should take some work but when the gear for a level below that takes 15 of a crafting material while the same piece in VR 16 takes 150 of a crafting material that is way to extreme of a jump. VR16 is noticeably better but it is not 135 portions better so the time investment isn't matching the return you get.

Welcome to grindfest 2015. I hit VR16 2 months ago and still a long way off in terms of being able to craft anything VR16. Guess you either have to be very patient and grind or hope they sell the mats in the Crown Store. Dont see Orsinium improving the VR16 mats` drop rate either even though there was a thread here a while saying that it would improve.

They upped the 'cost' for crafted Vet 16 gear to make it just as difficult to get top tier crafted gear as it is to get top tier dropped gear.. they also equalized the power of the two types.. equal power.. equal difficulty.. Until that change, alot of people were using crafted gear over dropped gear because, as was stated earlier, it was MUCH easier to get a full set of crafted Vet14 gear than it was to get the dropped gear from Vet City of Ash, for example. so now, they made the gear an equal amount of trouble to get. BOTH types of gear, both dropped and crafted, are both a grind to get.

Gathering mats should be easier with the new zone (Wrothgar) ... since nodes can drop ancestor silk and rubedite (along with rubedo leather on mobs).

In case you hadn't heard, the telvar stones needed to purchase mats in IC are cut in half in tomorrow's update.

It is getting somewhat easier ...

Well not only was crafted more accessible but I think it made it easier to theory craft builds. Looking at some of the sets in Orsinium I think that will still be the case. I am not a great min/maxer but I would like to at least be able to try to make a build around some of the IC sets but since they are such a pain to get it probably isn't going to happen.

Work? I work for a living. I play games for fun. The gear grind for v16 is just too much. Too much time or too much gold. And it discourages playing Alts.

Well I hadn't heard that but that is good news. Not sure if it is going to be enough to save IC which is already kind of becoming a ghost town except at peak times.

Not to mention that if you are complaining about the return on your investment... then don't make the investment. Min/Maxing characters can be expensive not to mention tedious work in any game. If you can't handle the mundane farming for gear then settle for v15.

Or if you are like me you say screw it and play alts to VR14, of course I will only delete the 4 non crafting characters as not going through the research grind again!

You can but the mats in guild shops for around 300g per. That or do the grind.

Check the guild vendors. There are v16 sets out there that are sold relatively cheap. OF course your option will be limited. And you wont be able to pick the style. But on a good day you can buy v16 set this way under 50k.

Err, no. 400g each if you are lucky. Most are 500g per, minimum.

That is good if the TV stone costs are being cut in half. Maybe I will set foot in IC again.. :-O

Don't forget the enchantments - an added expense/rarity, but with greater benefits, particularly if you want the prismatic effect (boost to health, magica and stamina).

I can feel your pain, I don't really have a lot of time to play myself and this made me quite disappointed too. Orsinium will be a bit of a remedy though - tel'var prices will be halved, so I will be able to buy all the mats for TVS I have saved up so far. It does kill the concept of crafting, which I very much liked. Cannot test, play around with builds - and one mistake makes you want to quit. I crafted a r16 helm but forgot to add a trait. Deconning gave me only a third of the materials back. It is quite frustrating. But there are ways to get around as of today -TVS, nodes in Orsinium, and trading the mats you don't need for the ones you need. I traded at least 100 rubedite ingots for the same amount of silk. I don't think they will change this, unfortunately.

I just wish VR16 gear had the next level visual designs of racial armor to make them stand out more (and account for the resource requirements).

V16 gear gives huge boosts to stats when made legendary, they are harder to get, but also provide higher benefits.

if you had the time to make a character V16 you will surely have the time to craft V16 armor.

also, monster sets are even harder to obtain so i don't know why this is an issue all of a sudden.

I think this was one of the best decisions zenimax has made in a while, and no I don't have all the time in the world, but now when go and XP for CP i also gain materials en TV stones which makes killing mobs much more rewarding and pleasurable then it did before.

10k stones should be able to buy ~ 150 crafting materials putting the price at 67 stones. currently the 100 stones cost is over priced. not on par with the cost of V16 sets from vendors

Already need to buy the enchant mats because V16 glyphs are rare, and the upgrade mats on top. At least consider this as a patch when Orsinium drops. For those who want to keep going to IC and enjoy its unique PvE/PvP mix, whilst feeling it is rewarding enough to do so.
