Wrecking Blow [Uppercut]

Wrecking Blow is a super fun and satisfying ability to use - it does great burst damage and has a nice CC component. But I have one wish/suggestion for this ability:

When NPC enemies are charging up an Uppercut, there is a very clear visual (it looks like sparks flying out of the caster in a ring). PLEASE PLEASE add this visual to the player version of the skill. The reason everyone hates this ability and thinks it's a dirty move is because it's almost impossible to see it coming. This is largely due to animation cancelling but also because of latency.

This would make PvP much more enjoyable for everyone.

    Yeah, I think ALL cast abilities should have this. It would make it easier for PvE players to transition to PvP.

    I find uppercut very easy to see comming unless the caster is stealthed (duh) or I already get hammered on by multiple opponents.
    When fighting a 2 handed user it quickly comes clear to me wether or not his 2h bar is a buff bar for rally or a damage bar, which pretty much always includes uppercut. Identifying possible uppercut users, and keeping track off them, is mostly a matter of habit for me now.

    However i still agree with your suggestion. When using a self buff that turns the caster transparent, such as lighning form or dragon blood, it can be quite hard to actually make out all the moves such a charackter pulls off, and especially for newer players, who are not as used to the specific animations of skills, that can be cause of frustration.

    WB is very easy to animation-cancel, and when cancelled, it's impossible to see coming. Also, it's possible to charge WB and a heavy attack at the same time with this tactic. Again, I don't fault the people who do this, I would just like a visual indicator so that I can react.

    i personally dont see an issue with this. Animation canceling makes it to where it truly can be almost impossible to see certain attacks coming, and we have not even mentioned when lag is involved.

    I think you notice it more because NPC animations are slightly slower on their powerful abilities. They are probably more like 1.5-2 second cast times.
    Wrecking blow does have a 1 second wind up time, which is enough to react. It winds up like a golf club swing so you know it's coming.

    I think it is impossible to animation cancel Crystal Frags, you can only block after cast to be able to cast something else instantly. CF cast time is interruptible.
    The reason why it is possible to charge a heavy attack after casting Wrecking Blow, because it is not possible to interrupt Wrecking Blows cast time.

    This is my understanding, potentially I am wrong.

    I agree with james, animation canceling sounds alot like people abusing a glitch. Its definately not intended and should be fixed with priority.

    Here's a cheat code for u; face a way shrine and hit w,w, (double tap A for dodge roll), 2,3,2 and now finish with a block+bash.

    There u go. Now u will have infinite resources and cheat like all those nasty pvpers....


    Seriously though the only nasty things happening in pvp are the occasional spies and ambush/leaping into keeps. Apart from that it's just animation cancelling which is fine.

    I wouldn't say it was nerfed - it's just weird. If you're ransack animation cancelling, for example, you still get the same amount of DPS, but the shield bash won't be seen. This is a problem for two reasons:

    1. The person being hit by the animation canceller will wonder where the hell that bash is coming from
    2. The animation canceller will need to get used to not seeing the bash go off, even though it registers

    So basically, they made it worse, but never nerfed it in the process.

    @Alucardo not just that man... With the new AC, one can hit crit rush and charge Wb during the rush animation... So the other person is going to eat a crit Rush and take a Wb in the face right After followed by a buggy executioner in which the damage lands before the swing completes.... All the nerf AC whiners are in for a rude awakening lol. ZOS didn't Nerf AC lol. They just made it more broken...

    Ouch, yeah that's pretty screwed. In all honesty, they'd be better off just reverting the changes they made to AC.

    Ok while animation cancelling is not technically cheating because it was approved by ZOS. It still makes it so most dont want to bother not just with pvp but with competitive pve. If you cant get the hang of animation cancelling then you just wont be able to compete.
