I have to fight my own alliance troops to do quests now?

I never had a problem with the concept. I was never really into the whole war. I was more concerned with helping people out people in need and the other alliances had the same issues as my own people.

Luckily my main character is "Evil". Which actually is quite useful if you are lazy, should i run back and get some one else to sacrifice themselves for the greater good rather than this NPC I've been helping all this time? nah never liked said NPC anyway, begin the ritual and greet death like a man you peasant!

and if do that to my allies in the real game, I can happily do it to them in the "what if" scenario of cadwell's alamac. The only NPC i couldn't betray was Stibbons, he was too entertaining in cold harbour,
though i did turn him into a goblin once....but that doesn't count.

This. Those are rogue troops that have been duped by Mola Bal and bring shame to your Alliance. Kill them all.

I'm in a pretty active RP guild, so I understand really getting into your character but..this doesn't bother me at all. Someone said, hey bud, you like quests, here's a chance to do all of the other factions and not have to create an alt. So I was like, sweet deal and did it. What is this loyalty nonsense and not wanting to harm my fellow pixels. How old are we people? Video game. Suspended reality. Imaginary. Do your quests or find some grind spot like the pvp only crowd.

this is exactly how I would have said it. all the lesser people would disagree however it is a game and as an altmer we can not be bothered with such trivial things as that.

You missed the main part of the whole story. The only reason everyone is fighting everyone else is because of Molag Bal's influence on the factions. He makes all three alliances think that the other is evil when he is the one really stirring the pot. Silver and Gold content are Meridia's attempts (Cadwell's quests) at showing you this after you have defeated him. She is basically saying look you were all duped into fighting one another.

Seems like a good tactic to me for ZOS to use.

World of Warcraft has done it for 10 years that you reroll if you want to play the alternate faction.

and EQ2 had a system that allowed you to change factions on the same toon and keep your current race. So WoW is not the first nor did it do it the best.

Like it has been mentioned, none of that cadwells silver/gold stuff actually happens in the "real world" - its visiting an alternate reality and experiencing how things -would- have gone had you beed a hero for the other side. Almost like a dream, only that it drops loot... ;)

See it as a chance to learn their secrets, so you will be in a better position to fight them in the "real world" once you finish your trip through those alternate versions... get a look behind the scenes of the other alliances, all the better to know where to slip the dagger if you were to get the chance... ;)

Maybe so, or maybe Catwell was lying. You could bring all those gears and gold into reality from illusion. illogically. Besides, in dreams, I wanted to kill my enemies in their zones, not helping them.

When I was hunting shards or doing quests in Cyrodii far from castles & farms, and avoided other players. They still ran me down or ambushed me all the time. "Why did they want to keep kill me? I don't even want to play with them. I just want to hunt shards and do quests." I was angry, then I remembered we were at war. So what's so bad to kill their ppl now? We are at war remember?

There is a big and obvious difference between a fight of several people in cyrodiil, and me turning your dead grandmother into a zombie to try and eat you, or for me to skin your brother alive so I can pretend to be him and poison you while you are asleep.

That was no fight. I was running to avoid conflicts. And every single time they pursued until I was dead. Btw, they were all v14, and I was like v1 or 2. So I call that slaughters.

It's an opportunity to see things from the other side. When you are in the alternate reality created by Cadwell's Silver, you are no longer a member of your original faction.
Also, all of the troops from your own alliance that you fight against are under the command of a rogue officer, operating outside of your alliance's orders. I would have thought that your alliance leader would praise the court-marshalling of these rogues.

Yes, that's an option, but there are also people who want to experience everything the game has to offer on one character. Cadwell's is there as an option for those players.

It would be fine... if it were truly an option. :s

That's why I think they should take out region locks. They aren't anywhere else. So why silver, gold, and craglorn?

It's fine if you choose an alliance different from your race, it's even fine to "defect" to another better alliance for whatever reason. However helped ur alliance last minute and fought ur alliance next minutes and then again came back to ur alliance pretending nothing happened and enjoying the alliance hero title. That's just awful.
"Catwell said this, Catwell said that, they weren't real" Those gears, gold, shards, skillpoints all look quite real to my character. So maybe is all the whole thing. Logically, you can't bring sth into reality from illusion. Catwell was lying makes more sense. So we're just mercenaries and liars now?

I find it... difficult... that my first big quest in Caldwell's Silver is to go save the Queen. You know, one of the leaders trying to lop the head from my King's shoulders. It doesn't fit with the whole "you're a stranger, go check out the other alliances" that Caldwell said, IMO. It would be different if I were just running around helping people and killing bandits and undead.

I'll do it anyway, because, hey, it's content and it's a game. But it's still weird.

By the end of Coldharbour, I figure we are part of something bigger than petty faction squabbles. And since Molag Bal is the prince of schemes and lies, it's not hard to imagine he has infiltrated members of our own alliance as well as the other alliances. MOST of the representatives from other alliances are seen doing terrible things that seem against their own moral codes, when you encounter them playing through zones. Covenant soldiers wiping out a civilian town of little strategic value, Pact slavers raiding and enslaving coastal villages in Covenant territory, Dominion soldiers murdering Argonian children. All of these things seem like actions committed by rogue generals or.... traitors in service to Molag Bal, actively working to keep the Three Banners War going and the people of Nirn hating each other.

The only way to purge them is to infiltrate the other factions after you have cleaned ranks in your own (which is basically what you do pre-veteran levels.) Think about it. Almost every major conflict or zone story is orchestrated by people who could be directly tied to Molag Bal, or loosely shoe-horned into that category if you really wanted to. Cadwell's Silver and Gold isn't about helping the rival factions. It's about rooting out Molag Bal's agents wherever they are.

Still hate the Dominion though. Booooooooooooooooooooooooooring.

Sigh... You do KNOW that, BEFORE you went to Coldharbor,
you forged an alliance of the three factions and as such you are required to help your allies defeat the minions of Molag Bal everywhere, including those of your own faction? And that the Queen and two Kings, to your character are all friends to the Vestige? With your actions leading up to Coldharbor, you became more like the Mage's and Fighters Guilds, non-aligned to faction.

Also, when you hit Azura's Crystal, as a poster above stated, you changed alliances and destinations of where you were popped out of the Coldharbor tutorial. Its like your EP character just became an AD fighter.

Don't you have a sense of loyalty? Never mind, guest you don't know what I'm talking.

It's not that serious. Also lore wise the Vestige isn't part of any army...your independent. You are not part of the Pact, Dominion or Covenant armies. You are not playing a soldier in a war, you are independent of the war as is evidenced by you being able to help all factions in your dungeon quests. The alternate reality is a what if. It's not a dream state. It's what if you were brought about by a different banner? What if other's helped you instead of the initial people. During Silver and Gold you are uninfluenced by previous decisions because in the "What if..." they never happened. Now you can have a clean conscience and go kill whoever you want.
