easiest class to play for newbs in pvp

hi,

I will be playing with a friend who does not posses the best of skills regarding the fine mechanics of ESO gameplay.

what do you think the easiest class/build is to play?

I only have a VR1 so my experience in non-vet pvp is limited but i was thinking

Sorc - magicka with harden ward/ward ally for defense and crushing shock, crystal frags for offense, and teleport for escape.

anyone else have opinion? would templar self heals be better, and focus on templar nukes?

that sounds like my fiancé she is the type of player that is either the wrong looking at the wrong screen, if split screen, or the one that takes a few steps stops turns then walks again she cant walk and look or fight yet. I had her make a sorcerer because it is the easiest class to master imo

Edit: Templar is also a nice choice because of the heals lets you get in and out of trouble better. but a little harder for pvp

Sorcerer, or Nightblade. The magicka nightblade has fast & furious attacks, can disappear and come back as easy as... You could even make a "magicka regeneration" build (a bit less spell dmg), so that it suits a beginner.. Most equip can be crafted, so everything under 50k

For a magicka nightblade use this build, as it's fairly easy, greedy and rewarding to play:

Templar would be no good choice, given that the Templar was triple nurfed in 1.6 and has less and less "healing power" and "self defense", making it very hard for beginners.

I can't follow any of the recommendations given above. What is an easy to manage class? It is a class that does not necessarily require a lot to uphold offense and defense.

Sorcerers and Nightblades may have a nice escape skill both, but both are not easy to use. Both require setting up the escape, roll dodging to make sure no gap closer or ranged attack is incoming, defining the direction in which to escape, preventing the counters from getting effective, looking for the next LOS break to restealth properly, awareness of the skills that prevent escape, awareness of resources to be able to use break free to initiate the escape...

It's much more than just pressing a button and getting away. You need situational awareness, which is the one thing that a "less gifted" player usually lacks. Also, these two classes are the most squishy classes, if you don't have the right setup. If your escape doesn't pan out, you are dead meat. Those two classes are the choice for good players, who have mastered the above things - they make the class look incredibly easy where it actually isn't at all.

Handling weapon switching for the defense skills is another thing that requires a minimum of hand-eye-coordination and simple dexterity and quick reaction times. All of these are not necessarily available to the "less gifted" player. Both, sorc and nightblade need so many tools to pull of their escapes that they are not manageable with a single ability bar.

If asked for a class and setup that would be most beginner friendly, then my recommendation is "play in a group and use a magicka build DK". Why? That player will seldom have an interest in soloing/duoing bigger groups. He/she will have the most fun with a group of people helping him/her (with heals, barriers, CC on opponents, etc.), because those are the things that he/she will probably have difficulties handling.

The magicka DK with a 1H&S setup can have a single bar that allows him to survive a bit and deal damage. Preclude weapon switching until the player has gained a bit of training. Make him withstand a pounding without using too many active abilities. The worst thing that can happen to a player is to be constantly dead.

In summary: 1H&S magicka DK with scales, spike armor, whip, coagulating dragon blood and shield charge, maybe replace spiked armor with ash cloud if enough heavy armor pieces are used. Train him/her to use the right mouse button. Make sure he is equipped with a bunch of stamina also, if possible use imperial race or alternatively nord for added health respectively mitigation. Use a couple of heavy pieces to provide a bunch of armor.

Run groups with him/her. The target is not to make him/her a killing machine. The target is to make him/her survive and see that with a decent group around him/her, he/she can successfully operate in Cyrodiil.

As stated, magicka NB or Sorc are the most mobile classes, and thus the hardest to control for your benefit, I've leveled up one of each class to vr14 and I played a lot of pvp with each class, the easiest class that does the most work by itself is the DK, however it's on the cost of not being able to burst damage as easily as a Sorc or NB.

    Thanks guys for the reply.

I think i will suggest the DK. you guys answered my question.

just to be clear my question was not, "which is easiest class that i can pwn face" obviously weapon swapping, situational awareness is REQUIRED to be good. but my friend is not the best at video games but likes to play with me. so I was looking at a build that could be fun and easy to play, that has some offense/defense/survivablity without too much weapon swap.

i realize that spreading the skills out on 2 bars and using things like entrophy/rally to boost dmg and additional healing/purges on off bars would be better all around. but its what i have to work with.

    thanks all

Imo you might want to stick to PvE with your friend. That way if you play together, he/she can just choose whatever class he/she likes best, and there is no stress or frustration of being killed over and over and having to ride back again and again.

If you play on Console you might be able to practice PvP, but on PC you'll get wrecked by the experienced PvPers.

Imo PvE is much better for your mental health and mood as well.

hmm. not asking alot are you....

Sorc is hands down the most survivable class. Skill points into magika, spam hardened/healing ward with other shields coupled with ranged dps and then hit one button to escape...shrug. EZ

but if a mobility class isn't for her then go with Dragon Knight.

Personally if she's a weak player she should take the Sorc or NB for and ability to escape. Sorc requires less micro and is easier to learn than NB IMO.

DK - as it is the most mistakes forgiving class.

Magicka Sorc hands down(on live). So much room for mistakes when you have Hardened Ward, Healing Ward, Annulment, can Bolt Escape half the map with a cheap 40% speed buff.

Not so sure about 2.1. They're still changing and tweaking stuff. But I would personally go for magicka NB in Imperial City. Not because they're much stronger than other classes 1v1 or anything, but because of all the bloody NPC's. Cloak helps you avoid and disengage NPC aggro, while other classes are sort of forced to always tank entire groups of mobs, even roaming bosses, while fighting other players.

I started pvp as a templar healer. Its a great way to understand the flow of players, learn the system, and build teamwork. You will be squishy at first, but you can change that later with good gear and stuff, plus you'll be in a group healing so you'll have protection.

After you know how everything works, and see how strategy works in cyrodiil, i recommend nightblade.

Very versatile, great escape with cloak, and you only need to be exposed as you want to be. I just circle the outskirts of a battle and spam ambush and deathstroke on the weak or healers. (Ugly tactic, bht as a low level newb its been very successful and gratifying for me.)

The templar support and aoe roles are the easiest to pick up and learn from, anything else is personal preference.
