Dueling Friends/Guild mates.

Just curious if, at some point, ZOS will ever introduce a dueling system. A system where you can challenge any friend, whether you share an alliance or not, and you never have to go to a "PvP" zone. The only requirement would be that you are able to travel to the same zone. If you are in a different alliance then you'd have to wait until you complete the main story. If you are in the same alliance than the same rules would apply as Cyrodiil. (Level 10)

There would be restrictions of course. You can't make challenges within city/town limits. (risk of hitting a guard/citizen are too high) You will be unable to challenge players if you are declined a certain number of times, say 5 or 10, in an hour or in a day.(To prevent players from spamming challenges randomly) Players will have the option to turn on an auto decline feature for duels if they are uninterested or busy. You will not gain xp, or will gain very minimal xp, to prevent/limit people farming xp from their friends.

Some examples of why I would like to see a dueling system in place are as follows:
-You want to duel a friend but he/she is in the same faction as you.
-You both want to test out your builds but don't want to join a campaign in Cyrodiil to do it.
-You don't want to be interrupted by other players trying to score a free kill.
-You are new to PvP and want to get some practice in with a friend before making the journey to Cyrodiil.
-You don't want to have to make the journey back to the same spot every time you die in a duel and there's no friendlies around to res you.

What does everybody think? What are your thoughts on restrictions? I don't like things to be restricted but we all know that if something can be exploited, it will be. Any ideas on rewards to make it more appealing to players who are more accustomed to the current PvP standard? Am I out of my mind for suggesting such a thing or are there like-minded individuals out there that would also like this system or something similar?

It is a good idea and I've seen it in practice in SWTOR. It's good fun!

It would be a great tool to settle scores within alliances where people have some "beef". I'd say it would work similar to how you suggest apart from that I believe it should only be allow in pvp (focusing on interfaction duelling). That way you have large areas, no npcs, a battleground to do so, and most people are in there to fight other players anyway!

I already know a lot of people carrying out duels with people in an opposing faction in the cyrodiil. Most people are polite and let them get on with it, as long as you're off the beaten track it works. But I agree that even in this situation you could activate a duel mode, covering the rules you noted.

It's what the people want, but ZOS won't give it to us.

If/when it is introduced, I imagine it will be a PvP area only thing and that's fine but I'm thinking about PvP noobs not unlike myself. I'm new to MMO's, ESO being my first, and I'm newer yet to PvP, as in 100% untested, and I'd like to practice with a friend. My friend and I haven't been to Cyrodiil yet and now that we've reached the Vet Ranks we are less than enthusiastic about going. I've read and heard from streamers that in the early stages of VR you are at a bigger disadvantage than non-vets when going into Cyrodiil.

If not a proper dueling system, I would at least like to see safe areas to challenge friends. An arena or something. If they put a stick in the wilds of Cyrodiil where you can go and nobody could attack you unless you accept a challenge I would be cool with that.

This is all I want. So annoying that I have to make a character on an opposing faction so I can duel my friends.

It's a basic mmo feature, but like many basic mmo features, ESO is missing it.

You have either friends or enemies. You dont fight your friends. Atleast until or if at all they introduce ability to steal from your alliance members. I cant stop laughing from the people that die to guards in Stormhaven.

It always boggles me when this excuse is used for not having dueling in the game.

How do you think in real life warriors used to learn and practice their techniques before they actually went into a real battle. They practiced against their own companions. They didn't put a sword in their hand for the first time and immediately march them straight out to a war.

    Just saying.
