Do you realize what you are asking? You are asking if voice chat should be implemented, voice chat already exists. I don't know exactly why you think it's not already there. So, I vote no.

Hes asking for text chat option. And yea, every MMO needs a text to chat feature.

It is also interesting to note that if someone has a different opinion the only rebuttal is insults like calling them trolls or
saying they have no valid points.

I never said I was against adding a text chat, it is just naive to demand the addition into the IC DLC which is basically complete.

Also why would you want to put the addition of text chat behind a paywall, you have to buy IC one way or another.
If they add it is should be in a general free core patch for all.

Did I say IC DLC or IC patch? There's a huge balancing patch being released alongside the DLC in case you didn't know. The point of my initial post was obviously that text chat is required for the things already present in the game, and it will be even more necessary for the very group centric IC content. The reason I tied it to the PATCH(not the DLC) is that I believe the first major patch since console launch is a deadline for ZOS. If they want to ask people for 25 bucks for very nearly group exclusive content they need to release a basic networking tool(text chat) along side it. I adore this game, especially the PvP and even I won't be around past the few months of ESOPLUS I have without some form of text chat(traditional, in menu, SOMETHING) and I'm being a lot more generous than several of the guys I've met in game; a good third of them are gone(anecdotal, I know) now after reaching end game and being unable to efficiently participate in the offered content.

I find it both hilarious and sad that a modern RP game from a major publisher would release an MMO without the ability to text chat. It is like releasing a car without tires. It just isn't done.

No kidding. I think they wanted to try something new and for that I give them credit. Having built in voice chat is great but it doesn't replace the need for text chat. It is time they admitted that this doesn't work and that they have crippled their game. I love this game but it is just so lonely. I have to keep voice off due to the crap that spews out out me speakers. Not sure how much longer I am going to keep logging in.

Exactly nothing wrong with trying new things and they should be applauded. But if they turned round and admitted their mistake I would respect them even more.

Its clear that those who don't want text chat won't use it, and that's fine. But why get all defensive about us wanting it, is another story. We're not asking to change the importance of voice chat, clearly we all have to use it eventually to get stuff done but its not enough, imo

It really wasn't because they wanted to try something new, if you watched the interview one of the developers just said that console gamers were essentially too lazy to use KB's.
Words that are pre-set to use aren't anything new either. The Whole Immersion thing is an excuse, if they really wanted "Immersion" they wouldn't have allowed mods nor text chat on the PC version.

I'm guessing they ran out of time and money bringing ESO to console and had no choice but to scrap text chat. The completely useless quick chat that got added seems like just an afterthought.

I wish someone would explain how listening to Larry the trucker arguing with his wife while his kids are crying and screaming in the background is supposed to help me feel more immersed in the fantasy world of The Elder Scrolls. How can you have immersion in a fantasy with someone's real life blaring in your ears?

Consoles should have text chat. FF11 had it on ps2 and that was 12 years ago. And guess what? It worked perfect.

I couldn't imagine playing eso on PC without text chat and only able to use team speak to communicate.

This game lacks some of the most simple things that's mostly every mmo has. I shouldn't have to install addons to see the damage I do.

Text chat seems like something simple enough to hot fix in. I understand if pc didn't have text chat, but it's something that they have coding for.

Hurry up and add it in before more players get frustrated and leave

There are so many reasons for text chat.

    Easier trading
    More social community
    Easier grouping
    Role playing
    General questions in-game
    Just plain 'ol goofy fun

I really, really don't understand why it's not in the game.

OH and not to mention the use of a keyboard would allow for keyboard shortcuts for menus and emotes!

Don't worry, the thread will reach 50+ pages just like the last one did and a mod will lock it for whatever violation they deem appropriate just to bury the issue. The fact that the previous thread was the largest thread ever on these forums and it was locked without ever being acknowledged by ZoS (not even a lurk) says everything about where this issue stands.

It hit 94 pages before being locked; has another thread broke 100 pages? To be fair the thread was locked and the topic is still hotly debated. If active I have no doubt it would still be growing.
