Well eso+ does grant 1500 crowns a month and 10% bonus exp and gold. Technically you could sub for 2 months, quit, and you'd have enough crowns to buy the dlc. 2 months of bonus experience and gold would just be gravy on top. Have your cake and eat it too!

Naw @miked83b14_ESO, ESO+ isn't worth it to me. If we "owned" the DLC after a period of time then perhaps.... we have had discussions about that here:

I planned on subbing to "try" IC... but the little bit I've played is enough to know I want it to be a permanent part of my ESO play-box.

and I was all in at first too. However, I am waiting on live patch notes to decide. PVP is just something to do for fun/change once in a while for me. If IC stays a gank fest at the door(s) with 100% loss, it simply holds no value to *me*

I am not a PVP either but man... sneaking around IC was just so much fun. I died frequently and quickly. It actually makes me want to play better so I can be viable there.

The feeling of dread I felt in IC is the kind of dread I wanted to feel in Coldharbour.

Maybe that's why Coldharbour is such a Disneyland. All the big-bads are getting their teeth sharpened in the IC!

That's also part of why I've always thought DAOC, a game this one drew quite a bit of inspiration from, was quite so successful with having a playerbase that was largely not made up of people who only enjoyed PVE, or only enjoyed PVP

. It had a lot of areas like the Imperial City is in ESO, that encouraged people to try out different gameplay than they always have preferred or thought they'd hate. Generally, throughout the years I played DAOC and its content additions (no small stretch of time, at around six and a half years consecutively from when it launched in October 2001, with another several months scattered about here and there after that), pretty much everyone found they enjoyed some degree of the PVE or PVP even if their main play was done in the other. It did an amazing job of not only introducing each preference's players to eachother, but also in mixing things up for everyone. Most people found something they liked, that they didn't think they would, and it made for a unique game that has yet to be done quite as well ever since.

They definitely nailed it in capturing that essence, if you ask me. It would be kinda cool to see a /lurk in your thread here, @Gidorick. I'd predict it's one of the first of many along the same lines to follow in the next couple of months

I share your sentiment. It might make more sense to subscribe, once the DLC schedule gets going as they'd talked about on the ESO Live show recently. For now, though, if your interest is in the DLC primarily, it's definitely more affordable to buy the crown pack as you did... which is also the path I took.

Ha-ha reminds me of me... First day in IC I was raging and just saying "Just let me quest and quit killing me" but now I'm getting the hang of it, sometimes I even win the duel.. Lol

I'm still confused on crowns on the PTS. Your PTS balance doesn't affect your Live balance, but how is the PTS balance determined? If I spend those crowns on PTS to test IC and Orsinium, do I have to buy more crowns for Live to get more crowns on PTS?

It's reset every time you login. This allows you to also max out your mount's stats for each new character, as well as get as many repair kits and soul gems as you need, by hitting /camp to go to the character select screen and then loading back in

. I'll admit, I only picked up on that on Thursday

... and it might be a good thing for @ZOS_GinaBruno or @ZOS_JessicaFolsom to add into the patch notes for the PTS.

Wait until they add gated access; then you can pay for something you may never actually get to play. Currently the PTS has unrestricted access so it is not the experience that ZOS intends to deliver on the 31st. In a way it's false advertising unless they recant on their original intentions.

I'll honestly be surprised if they sell it and keep it so you can be locked out.

I could actually see ZOS releasing IC for "free" but with the gated rules and then for 2500 Crowns sell unlimited access.

OMG yes!!!

Gankfest is what is holding me back from even thinking about purchasing this DLC. It is cool idea in theory about losing stones to people but there will be those jerks that just grief and prey on people which will ruin the game.

Sneaking around the Imperial City is a lot of fun! I've been exploring on my DK. The npcs alone are difficult but not overly so. I had some encounters with enemy players but not as frequent as I thought it would be. I've killed some and been killed. I've also have had a few friendly encounters. Mostly with EP though. AD you need to lighten up a bit!

For whatever reason if you just want to explore and limit the pvp I would stay out of the Memorial District. That seems to be the place people gather.

I would LOVE to be able to explore the Imperial City as Oblivion was my favorite game and the first one in the Elder Scrolls franchise that I played, but I can't explore because as soon as I get out of the sewer, I am killed by usually three or four enemy players. It doesn't matter which district I go. Just coming up, I have no tel var stones so they are not profiting by killing me and it is only causing me to want to cancel my subscription. I so wish that ESO made a toggle for PVP. I would even be happy with PVP in the alliance areas if it were toggleable. Too bad as it could cut down some of the bad behavior of some of the players.

@RDMyers65b14_ESO I didn't notice at first but near the bank in the sewers are rope ladders to each of the districts. Take one of those and you will spawn in an elevated location safe from enemy players.

Huh wait. You mean if I sub for two months, don't spend the crowns you can buy the DLC? You mean you don't buy the DLC with real money but with crowns?

I am on console. Does this work on consoles as well? If so, how do we get eso+ on consoles? Do you have to give your credit card and then cancel later or can your buy eso+ monthly?

Yes @HsojVvad. You can buy the DLC with Crowns within ESO. You buy Crowns from the console store OR you subscribe to ESO+. I haven't subscribed to ESO+ on console so I don't know it works on there exactly. I'm thinking it will charge whatever method of payment you have on your console account.

2 months of ESO+ = $30 = 3000 crowns
Large Crown Pack = $40 = 5500 crowns

That's why I bought the Crown Pack instead.

I played during one evening, and it is hands down the best content ZOS has produced in the past year and a half. I killed some people, I got killed once, I nearly got killed when I was carrying a lot of stones, some of the quarters have a really good atmosphere.

The IC releases just as I finish my exams, and that day, I will be with my guild to hunt some daedras and some elves for some stones.

The PTS notes clearly states they are going to test different version of IC. Currently they are allowing for everyone to have access.

IC reminds me of all those new toys I got as a kid on Christmas. I was so excited for them, played with them for a month and then they collected dust under my bed or closet.

There is just not enough content and depth to this DLC to make it exciting enough to play over and over and over (especially the 2 PvE dungeons.... where is the progression with that?).

I guess this will be the test for me. Busy at work so will see how much I actually play ESOTU. So far I only play on Friday nite and Saturday.
