Will our accounts be copied over before Imperial City hits PTS?

Self-explanatory question, but I do also have a sub question revolving around the same premise.

So I just recently got on the PTS (didn't do it back when 1.6 was out) and I noticed that my characters are about 3 months old, so a copy from March essentially. I hope they will get updated before IC comes out, because of another thing I encountered on the PTS.
That thing is the lack of sets given to you. Say I want to test out how to best max out Spell Damage, without wasting gold and resources on the Live server, then you would think the PTS was there for that, except with the template characters you only get limited gear, AA and HRC trial gear to be precise, which let us be honest is not really good for much. There is not even SO gear given to you, which is strange. So if I want to try out something I am left with a funny predicament. A: get the gear I need off the 3 month old version of my characters or B: actually grind for them.
It just seems really odd, hope ZOS will do something about both of these issues. I am sure most people will want to figure out what works for PvP because of the big changes coming with 1.7, would be rather asinine to have to grind for gear on a test server, just my opinion of course.

    I agree OP.

We should also be given an abundance of Tel Var Stones to try the new sets from IC.
The current system of PTS (much like your live version) is horrible and a mess.

I got killed in pvp, nerf everything...

Yes, indeed. It'd be a bit funny if we had to grind throughout the whole PTS period to even get to try the really "hard to get" sets of gear.

the pts is to test the mechanics of the changes and new content and to see if any bugs or glitches occur, its not for getting a leg up on an op build....

    I would say:
-any new items/gear should come in the template for testing( no brainer) It is a testing server:/
-all crafting should be level 50 on template- with crafting supplies in the template boxes

that should give us enough for decent testing.

I would love if they gave us every item in the game, but lets be real, we would be testing builds 90% more than the content; the point of pts is to reduce hiccups with the patch release not mess around with fantasy builds.

To answer your original question, we will be doing a character copy shortly before the Imperial City DLC hits the PTS. We'll be starting with North American megaserver characters, and will do a copy for European megaserver characters about 2 weeks after. We'll also have a few templates available - one high level, and one mid-range.

Heh yeah I get what you are saying, while some of my annoyance was with not being able to test the full extend of a build, it was also a case of, "Oh hey all this new gear is coming in IC, can we even manage to get to try it before it goes live."

Thanks for the reply. Can you reveal if the templates will have updated sets of gear in them or whether it is up to us to get enough Tel Var stones to get the high end Imperial City stuff?

I imagine the templates will have generic gear as who knows what you are going for with your test build.
My question is will I be able to use the templates if all 8 slots are copied or will I have to delete some from the PTS copy first?

So we will have a chance to test the new sets, or the "high level tempate" is still the VR12 Hel-Ra and AA set combination?

I think you'd actually have to delete toons.

SO, I just logged into the pts and saw my characters from March or April were copied. Are they copying over your current accounts tomorrow also or do we have to create templates to test this stuff? What do you do if you already have eight characters on the pts?

We'll be taking the stamp for North American megaserver characters tonight, and they'll be copied over with tomorrow's PTS maintenance. We'll have templates as well. :)

@ZOS_GinaBruno Have those templates include skill xp? So can we morph skills without having to level them one by one?

I'm not Gina, but the templates have always had a skill and xp pool to draw from in the past, so yes, i'm pretty sure you can max skills without actually having to grind them.

At least the max. level template should provide that ...

I didn't mean skill lines and passives but the actual skills. They were all level 1 and unmorphed before. Remember the last pts for 1.6 back in February.

It misses the point to give out abdundance of TV stones.

Because part of the test is to check how easy/hard is it to obtain TV stones.

That will still be tested. The problem will be with the sets, often untested sets prove to either A: be overpowered, B: be underpowered or C: be borked. Just look at how many of the champion point passives, despite the 1.6 PTS, they have had to fix and how many still don't work correctly, e.g. Spell Erosion.

What i'm trying to tell you is that they are all maxed, at least for the max. level template. You still have to spent the skill points to unlock your morphs, but you'll have a large pool to draw from.

No need to grind skills ...
