ESO newbie after some advice for pvp!

Afternoon fellow elder scrollians! I've been a huge fan of the elder scrolls games since morrowind back in my pc gaming days. (now just use a ps4 for gaming) and recently got ESO and loving it!

Just after some advice on building up my characters to be more competitive in pvp. In previous games I've never really bothered about the "build" too much and just enjoyed playing whatever. But I enjoy pvp more in most games now and understand a good build is the first basic.

First off I've got a level 32 orc dragon knight in daggerfall covenant using 2h and bow weapons.. I love playing this class (always like being a tank upfront and personal kind of view)

But I'm finding myself lacking in pvp, now I've managed to get a few kills 1v1 but I find it luck more than anything (such as I'll use my upright swing to knock an opponent over then using flame sword swing and then light/heavy attacks whilst their down.

But mages / nightblades seem to constantly trap me and knock me down leaving me as a constant sitting duck.

I've got about 27 points in hp and about 5 in stamina. Using the hardened armor and green blood to up my defence / regeneration.

So do I need to respec my attributes? Is hp or stam more important? How does the weapon/damage and attribute scaling work in this game?

I find my character quite weak in the sense in pve it takes me a good few swings to take down an opponent, yet I see other players of equal or less level 2 hitting / killing entire groups of mobs in half the time.

Sorry for any forgetfulness of names as I'm still getting to grips with everything!

    Hey,
in non veteran PvP there will be battle leveling, so your attribute points (and the level of your armour) don't matter at all. The only things that change your stats are passive skills, your mundus stone, buff food and some armour sets.
For new players I'd recommend to focus on a build that can sustain a lot, high damage builds are usually harder to play and more frustrating untill you master them. Usefull armour sets would be Arena or Willow's Path (both can be crafted). Additionally you could use sword and shield on one of your bars and get the dragon set (drops at lvl 15-20, often sold in guild stores). Furthermore you should get buff drinks that increase your stamina and magicka recovery and a usefull mundus stone, maybe tower or attronarch.

If a skill costs magicka, the damage scales of your maximum magicka and spell damage, if it costs stamina it scales of your maximum stamina and weapon damage. Your spell / weapon damage depends on the type, quality and level of your weapon and can be increased with some armour sets, skills and in case of weapon damage also a mundus stone.

Current mundus stone (forget the name) increase physical resistance I believe?

I understand about the battle leveling, but I thought that only meant your basic skills and being a "true" higher level gave a slight advantage with the extra attributes and armor/weapons?

Most of my gear is blue and for a level 30 atm.with armor adding some hp and stamina.

Not actually used any food in the game? What do I need to make food worthwhile for pvp?

Same for armor everything I've gotten is from quests and dungeons. So should I look into creating my own?
