For starter's you should definitely get lava whip(close quarter's & midrange dps), dragons blood(quick heal), talons(for cc & root), reflective scales(self explanatory, for projectiles only), I personally would also recommend inhale. Works well with talons for damage+heal. Latter on you may want to get ash cloud for snaring incoming mobs and gives you some time to dps them down. For the destro staff, I'd say the essential skills would be force pulse(good for weaving light attacks with), impulse(very good aoe that can't be blocked)and destructive touch(for inferno staff, it's good for pushing back enemies that chase after you or a party member and now adds a dot). I would also invest in all the passives for these skill lines as they are pretty much essential as well. Ultimates I'd use dragon standard and dragon leap until you get the mage guild, fighters guild and soul magic ultimates. Hope this helps.
