Black Screen

I was doing a Quest last night and when I went through a Door all I had was a Black screen until I moved my character. Same thing happened when I went back through the Door.

There's a few places like that in the game. I'm honestly not entirely sure why it's there or why they haven't fixed it, but if you walk forward it fixes it. If you look at the door carefully, you'll see that there is like a pitch black overhang that extends from the door and blocks your vision on purpose. I forget what quest it is, (I think the second or third zone for Daggerfall) but you walk downstairs and open the door and I always just stand there and think it's loading or something and then I finally remember to walk forward, haha.

Reported as far back as a year ago. The most obvious one is in AD during the initial quest to save the Queen where you have to get into the warehouse near the docks.

The reason you see a black screen is because the door on the interior model of the warehouse is off by about a meter and you spawn inside the door itself.

I /bug reported this (and several other just like it) right after launch last year and it's still there ...

For the past three days, at least once an hour, the game will stutter, then go to a black screen. I can still hear sounds, even of opening UI components, but nothing I do (including Alt+Tab out and in) returns the graphics.

When I leave the game, the launcher then says I have to repair the client. After repair, the launcher always gives the Error 209 - PatchManifestError_VersionFail message. However, the launcher itself does say Play instead of Repair.

I have repaired the client in all ways listed in the Knowledge Base, including a new install. When I used to play this game at launch and for a few months after, I never had a black screen like this.

I'm adding this comment to this thread as it seems all the other black screen threads revolve around crashing right after launching into the game. I'm not having black screen after launcher issues; this is when I'm already in the game for 20-30 minutes and playing. It's basically made it so I cannot do any group or challenging activities and I'm not sure when I'll crash.
