Noob alert! Advice needed

How's it hanging?

Just reached level 10 and feel things are not so great!
The game dynamics seem good, the map is humongous and I feel like I'm plodding along!

So, I created my character as a nord, with the idea of being a hard hitter. Any advice on what skills etc I should be concentrating my efforts towards?

Nords aren't a hard-hitting race, they're tanky. That said, it's impossible to give you skill advice without knowing your class and weapon of choice.

Race doesnt matter all that much, though nords are more focused on toughness than damage. If you want to be a heavy hitter, obviously use a 2handed weapon. Wear 7 pieces of medium armor, and focus your attributes on stamina (with a few into health every few levels to raise your survivability). Nightblades, templars, and dragonknights all work well with 2h builds, sorcerors can work but they have no stamina abilities to offer and surge becomes redundant with momentum.

Lynx great advice, I've been building levels on both 2h and duel. I found I was really slow with 2h hence building the dual. I now believe it because of my armour. I've been using heavy but will have a go with medium.

Rosveen. I think my class is draggonknights and and I haven't managed to find a weapon of choice yet, but mostly swords.

As a nord Dragonknight i would certainly focus on 2H,
